I finally got to ride my bike today and at 45 mph I'm turning 6900 rpms tops nothing left. Ive searched for max rpms but need to know what max rpms for stock gy6 150cc.

jake , what was it before all your mods. My plug looks fine ,not leaning out. I was wondering if my exhaust is holding it back if my rpms are to low for stock.

Well 45mph is pretty slow for a 150 you should at least be in the 50mph range more like 55mph or so. My 150cc Trike Orginally was cranking over 8000 rpms at 50mph and if I held it at WOT on a long run the RPMS would start to go past 8500.
So I would say something is holding it back, check your brakes make sure they are not engaged part way, check your wheels, turn them by hand and see if there is binding, also check your CVT area for something hanging up, Variator etc..
Put it on its center stand and see if it revs higher, It may be a bad CDI restricting the rpms.

My personal opinion based on everything I've read and my own experience is about 8500 max for short bursts (downhill), 8000 for 15 minutes or so, and the sweet spot for long engine life is 7500. You should be getting more than 6900 AND 45 MPH, both are too low for a stock 150cc GY6. 8500 RPM might be a stretch on some set ups but you should get at least 55 MPH. I went through something similar to you, the plug looked fine but it just wouldn't crank out the Rs. I finally settled on the opinion that the mixture was indeed fine and dandy but something was holding things back. It turned out it the air cut valve diaphram wasn't in quite right causing a vacuum leak so the diaphragm slide tube wasn't lifting all the way. I suggest using a clear line to that nipple; if the diaphram is leaking, gas will show up in the line. Rich

7500-8500 is about right for a stock machine, my wife's modded gy6 will turn 10,250. It has a 2mm stroker crank, 59mm cylinder, A-11 cam, performance cdi, exhaust, k&n filter, 12 gram sliders, 1500 ncy main spring, stock clutch, stock head and intake.

HEY!! that may be what is wrong with mine, where I am losing around 600rpms. I will put on a clear line on it and see if I get gas in that line. CROSS YOUR FINGERS, I have been chaseing this lose of RPMS for 6 months now. But I do not have a good feeling that the lose of rpms is because of that because I have put on a new carb and sameo sameo. But I will check it out.

My stock 150 w/2k miles logged tops out at 57 MPH, don't know what the revs are, tach went wacky.

because of my size I suppose,I get 50-54mph tops, 58 down an overpass..LOL I get about 55mpg, bc I run so close to WOT most of the time. At 50mph,I run about 7500-7800rpm.

What would the generally accepted redline be for a 150cc GY6?
Mine's a Taiwanese model, E-Ton Beamer R4. Hoping to find an analog tach that will work on these... any ideas where one might?

I looked all over for an analog about six months ago but ended up with the Tiny Tach. It's kind of expensive but I must say it does work great. Some guys on the forum found some cheaper digitals online that seemed to work just as well. 8,000 RPM is considered the sweet spot high end by many including myself for a GY6. There's been a few that said they routinely run 10,000 but I think that's pushing it. I'll wind up to 8,500 with my 150cc but for long life I'd try to stay at 8,000 as a goal with your variator tweaking. Opinions? Rich
