name is jim, own a gorilla motor works rx 50. it is teaching me to hate all chineese scooters. only have 1700 miles on it and has broken down twice. yes I've done normal maintenance.

What broke? Znen scooters are usually solid. Also Wolf brand scooters are sold by dealers. Did he make good on it?

The warranty goes for 1year parts and labor.

drive belt broke, chewed up veriator rollers. deler fixed it at my expence. said it wasn't covered under waranty. now it starts but when you try to excelerate it stalls. of course the dealer says bring it in we will look at it but valve adj is not a waranty item

All this is easy stuff to fix , unless you have deep pockets you are going to go broke if you do not learn how to fix this stuff yourself. And let me tell you something else if it was a brand scooter like a honda or yamaha you would have to sell your house to get it out of the shop

Yep, all what happened is not a defect of a part covered by the warranty. Actually not very much is covered under a warranty THAT WILL USUALLY break or go bad during the warranty. So for scooters their warranties are crap if you ask me. Now if they said they will warranty them from fender to fender then you got something.

yup I'm in agreement about the warranty but then what warranty is worth a crap anymore. slowly learning how to fix things. spent over 30yrs in industrial maintenance but scooters are a new critter to me

Great, so if you have some tools just ask for help if you do not know what is what. They are really easy to fix not kidding you and if its parts you need those are gotten cheap as well. Carb for 25-30 bucks while a dealer will charge you twice as much PLUS LABOR to put it on and adjust it.
And the lists goes on.
So If you have a problem just open a thread in the 50-200cc section and explain your problem and we will help you fix it yourself.

thx alleyoop, took it to the dealer to have belt replaced, I couldn't loosen the nut that holds the drive pulley on. had a cheap harber freight impact wrench, even used pb blaster to no avail

btw, i feel sorry that you have to undergo such a horrifying experience with those kinds of scooters.
i would recommend all newbies to ask first before they plunge on buying a scooter, or better yet pm me directly and i will lay all the cards on you, will tell you the pros and cons and the difference between a chinese scooter and a japanese scooters, or products in general. more often than not newbies end up with cheap,crappy and scrappy scooters and instead of it being the source of their leisure,it ended up being the source of their headache and sometimes cause their hairloss......spare yourself from embarrassment, you still have time, i strongly encourage you to sell that scooter and get something better, its easy to find it because everything else is better than any chinese products.

I was wondering when you would come out. Don't forget to tell him all the maintenance and recalls those "Better" scooters require. Like constant clutch and variator repairs. Not to mention all the recalls for bad fuel pumps, electrical connections and brake problems. Also the weeks you have to wait for simple and very expensive parts.

Don't listen to Oscar Meyer, Jim. All two wheeled devices need maintenance. Your scooter also has dealer backing if you need it and is still being built, unlike way too many Japanese scooters.

I'm not to discouraged about routine maintenance items, just helps to know what they are. the sheet the dealer gave me and the owners manual says nothing about what I've experienced so far LOL. will make it a part of routine to check/replace belt and veriator rollers and valve adj.

no, luke we don't want your opinion on Chinese things. we already know what it is. you put it in damn near every post.

I hate working on my Razz(Yamaha!). to adjust the carb you have to remove all the back body panels and the airbox. it needs attention quite often and is always idling high, running lean etc. on top of that the top speed is less than that of any belt drive Chinese unit ive seen (the razz is chain drive for those that don't know) and the gas mileage is nowhere near the 85-100mpg listed in yamaha's ads. I can remove the carb on my chino scoot without taking off any body panels and the valve adjustment isn't terrible to do either. you just got a bad taste in your mouth because of ONE scooter that you bought and had a hard time with.

Yes. Despite the annoyance from not knowing what is routine, many people aren't aware how easy these things are to come to grips with. If you buy a Gates Powerlink Premium belt from either www.scooterbelt.com or www.partsforscooters.com it will last much longer. Mine stretched out at 2,400 miles and I made the switch. I have 8,300 miles on the scooter now with almost 5,000 miles on the Gates (made in China BTW) belt. I have made numerous valve adjustments on the scooter and it gets easier once you're totally familiar with the panel removal drill. That is the longest part of the job.
