Hi
My sons Peugeot Speedfight 2, 50cc cut out whilst he was riding to work he tried to start using the start button but got nothing not even turning over. When I went down to look at it before RAC arrived I noticed he also had no front lights but brake light, indicators and horn worked okay. However nothing on the starter switch side works ie starter or headlights. RAC didn't really have a clue so after taking plastics of to look for fuses which we only found one by battery which was fine. It was recovered home. Battery is good and fairly new I have put a new starter on it and bought another switch for start and headlights checked all connectors etc. Also fitted new starter relay. I have stripped most plastics off but cannot find any more fuses. Any ideas what the culprit may be? Also do the head lights run through the CDI I know it's an ignition component so am wondering if this maybe the problem? The scooter worked perfectly well up until it cut out and now nothing no spark no turning over and no front headlights. I have a bit more time to now look at it as only really spent about an hour on it mostly removing body work. It doesn't kick start but I think that's unrelated and possibly hasn't for a while. Any help appreciated I haven't bought a manual for it yet but will do weekend so I can get a pic of circuit diagram. CDI is non standard. Just to confirm with ignition on brake lights, horn, indicators all do work. But no headlights or electric start.
Thanks Sy

check the headlite bulb,,,sometimes on older early european bikes they use the headlight as a "fusable link" headlite blows it shuts it down,,,what year is this thing?,,,that came in around the late 60's-mid 70's

I did find some info on it does your CDI look like this. It appears it has a killswitch maybe try and pulling the killswitch out of the CDI. Alleyoop Ok Found a diagram for I believe:

Hmmmmm, I found this diagram and it says Speedfight. I think that should be pretty close.
If this diagram is correct, or close, your dash lights, horn, etc. are supplied by DC from the ignition switch so they come on with the key. I think your headlights are AC from the stator so they come on when the bike starts but I'll have to go over the diagram. headlights do not run through a CDI, that is an ignition module. They do run off of the regulatpr/rectifier and/or battery. What is this immobilizer? It sounds like a bizarre kill switch. It also has an aerial? Anyway, if it is a kill function that would account for no spark or start function. See if you have an emergency stop switch on the handlebars that might have been bumped to stop. I don't see one on the diagram. Guys, anybody know anything about the immobilizer? It sounds like a Schwartzenagger movie.

Almost sounds as some sort of James Bond device. An antenna? Possibly came with some sort of rf remote to ward off theft. You don't suppose it was triggered by accident due to a passerby using a phone or some such?
