I have 2 4 stroke mopeds all stock. I've adjusted the valves to .004, new NGK plug, replaced/removed some emission items and tubes, everything capped or blocked. The only ones left is the valve cover, and petcock vac line.
1 has a cracked air box(small). Too much air right? A little tape over the intake tube and it runs good. Does 30-35. Idle surges a little when cold, but doesn't when warm.
-I thought I understood the obvious until the 2nd one has the same symptoms.
Next. Same thing. Except, the airbox is not cracked. But in order to get higher RPMs (WOT),I had to cover some of the intake tube. My question is that these stock peds seem that I need to re-jet. The idle surges a little on this one, meaning bouncing a little as well.
I cannot get higher RPMs with air/fuel screw. Requires covering the airbox breather tube.
I have a feeling even fixing or swapping the airbox is not going to fix my problem for the 1st What are some other things to look at/confirm first?
