Cutting out

My MBK Mach G 50 AC (AKA Yamaha Jog) had been sitting for a year or so, and wouldn't run due to flooding. I cleaned the carb and it ran better but would just die as I was riding along - never stopped completely, cut out for a bit then ran again for a while - then cut again..... and so on. I fitted new plug, plug cap, coil and lead and no difference. Oil tank is going down, and I've also poped some oil into the fuel for good measure. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this cutting out?

Gummed up carb, did you take completely apart and see that ALL the passages are clear?

Gave the carb a pretty good clean, and blow through with compressed air. Float seemed to be working ok. Idle screw seem to need to be a long way out to stop the engine from racing at throttle off. A little bit of petrol coming up from cable entrance on carb top. Runs ok for a bit, then starts to cut. Struggles on hills, and often stalls at tick over - just like as if the ignition turned off. Sometimes it goes to stall but picks up again. All very frustrating!

It is getting to much fuel if fuel is coming out of the top by the throttle cable. Turn the AIR SCREW 1/4 turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE, that is the SCREW near the AIR FILTER SIDE the one in the middle is your IDLE SPEED SCREW. Alleyoop

Also, since it sat for so long, you should drain and clean the tank. It's likely got a lot of crud sitting in there that could be clogging you up as well.
