I got 4 scooters (3 not running) and a pile of parts a few weeks ago. I'm down to the last one to get going. Here's a little back ground. I got it to start a few days ago with no battery by just kick starting it. It would idle fine, but wouldn't rev up. Switched carb, coil,CDI, still the same. A bit later I noticed one of the stator wires to the CDI was unplugged so I double checked the 2 other scooters and hooked it up. I don't remember what color the wire was, but it was not in the 2 wire plug from the stator. I haven't tried starting since until I got the new battery and ignition switch yesterday. While installing the new battery I noticed a rather large spark when connecting the terminal. I thought that was weird since I don't even have an ignition switch installed yet. So I checked and found a continuous 6 amp draw??? Since there is only 1 fused circuit for everything I was wondering what might be a likely cause of such a draw?

Well there is only TWO wires that plug into the CDI from the Stator, 1 is from the pickup coil which is usually blue and the other is the POWER wire that goes into the BOTTOM of the 2 PLUG. Now you could have the Coil Feed and the Coil Pick up switched so check that. Alleyoop
