Hi I have a 2007 roketa 250 scooter that is not starting. I put a new cdi and battery in it. I have great spark and I am getting fuel and still won't start. It will give a little pop here and there but won't fire even if I put a little fuel in the cylinder. I haven't done a compression check on it yet but wondering if that could be the problem. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thank you

Did it ever start for you? Can you give us a little history? Yes, this happens all the time and yes it could be compression.

I got it from a guy at work who said the motor was locked up. But when I picked it up the motor turns over great especially now that I put a new cdi and battery in it. That's about where I'm at now.

Did you check for spark? A quick compression test is to pull the plug, hold your finger over the hole and crank it, your finger should pop off.

It has great spark but if I put decent pressure with my finger then it won't blow it off

If you're getting fuel then the compression is the problem. Have you adjusted the valves? They might be way tight and not closing. The other possibility is the rings are toast. Let's hope it's the valves. Do you know how to set them?

I have found a page to show how to set those valves while the motor is not running. I followed that so I believe I set them right and still had nothing

Is it the verticle or horizontal engine?

I have found a page to show how to set those valves while the motor is not running. I followed that so I believe I set them right and still had nothing From what you just said I take it is the 244c motor with the valve adjusters on the outside on the valve cover. Now testing for compression you need to hold the THROTTLE WIDE OPEN and crank it and if it LIFTS your finger off the hole it then has descent compression AT least enough for the motor to run pretty good. If you just feel some pressure then compression is low and to check if its the valves or rings pour a teaspoon of oil down the plug hole and retest. If this time it does lifts your finger a little off the hole then you know it is the rings. Alleyoop
