Hi, i have a 2008 shanghai shenke YY250T, the wife ran it out of oil last year and i had the replace the motor. after the motor was changed (with a used one) it kept eating batteries, we went through 3 of them and it left her sit at work, start fine in the morning but when she came out of work some 8 hours later it was dead...nothing. i had 3 different mechanics look at it and not a on could fix it. one mechanic said that once he gets it started and after it has run for awhile, when he tries to start it......nothing. Help please we are tired of buying batteries.

A few things can create this situation,,,either the stator is not producing power,,,or the regulator is shot and not switching the power produced to the battery for charging,,,or there may be a short somewhere creating a drain,,,check all the connections ,,when the engine was changed the plugs may have not been put together correctly,,,I'd start there,,then it's checking all the components to make sure they work,,,check the library for procedures for testing

Get yourself a Multi Meter, you can get one for less than $10.00 at Harbor Freight. Connect it to the battery and see how many volts it reads. If less than 12.5 it needs to be charged. But once you get the motor to start then test the battery and see if it is being charged by revving the motor to around 3-4 thousand rpms it voltage on the meter should read 13+ volts If not then the charging system on the scoot is not working.
If that is the case not charging then it is 1 or two possible things the Regulator/Rectifier is shot and or the stator is bad. Alleyoop

If you intend to remove it, read up on how to do it and get the proper tools. If you don't you may have a real problem.

Ok, thanks. If you could post a picture of a Jonway 250cc motor and put the location in red that would be great. Also I'm looking for a maintence manual for it. Thanks again
