Hi all! So, dummy me, I bought a used Verona vr150t. I HAD researched it, but didn't realize that although people liked it during the first few years, buying it used in 2015 was a really baaaad idea. (plus I didn't realize that TNG went OUT OF BUSINESS!!! ugh) Sadness. So it ran when I bought it, dude said that occasionally it would die on him, but would start back up and ran fine. I got my permit and puttered around town one day for a couple of hours and then it up and died on me. Walked it home and couldn't get it to start again (it cranked, just didn't start). Found a guy to help out who's pretty knowledgeable; I'm just having issues finding PARTS!!! First, I replaced the CDI with this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RU3FRA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00. Can someone tell me if this is the correct CDI for my bike? I think it is, my guy says it is, even though he mentions its size is smaller than my original one. Second, the CDI didn't fix the issue, so now we're looking at the Pickup. I spent the last 2.5 hours scouring the interwebs and I finally came across this: www.familygokarts.com/pdf/manuals/tng/conversion_charts/TNG_to_CF_moto_conversion_chart.pdf which led me eventually to this: www.aliexpress.com/item/In-Stock-IGNITION-PICK-UP-COIL-PULSE-TRIGGER-WATER-COOLED-CFMOTO-CF250-CN250-GY6-250-HONDA/1440629004.html. Can someone validate if that's the correct part? Lastly, I want to line up a Stator, just in case I need one. One youtube vid said that 2 of the coils controlled the pickup. Is this correct? Also, here's a pic of the stator I'm looking at. www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Freeshipping-stator-assembly-12coil-Magneto-coil-CH125-12-DC-for-Motorcycle-Dirtbike/213090_1330390613.html The only difference is that it has 1 female yellow bullet connector (whatever that is) absolutelyscooterparts.net/catalog/ch150-coil-stator-150cc-p-1051.html. Is this correct Stator for the bike? So to recap: are the parts I'm looking at the correct ones for my bike? Is it true that the Stator powers the pickup? Is there any other/better resource for getting parts for my bike or did I just make a really fatal error when I got this? TIA, I really appreciate the feedback!!! javashackgirl

Parts are pretty much the same on all chinese scooters so getting the right ones probably not as bad as you are thinking.
One trait of the chinese scooters is they need valves adjusted some what frequently. This is very possibly what caused yours to die. They quite often will start back up after cooling down.
edit: you will need to find out if it is getting spark. Pull spark plug and hold it's base tight against the engine watching the electrodes for spark while some one cranks it over, (trying to start it)
If it is getting spark you will need to find if it is getting gas, putting a teaspoon full into carb and try starting noting if the engine pops when cranked over.
Also hoses are a problem so checking to be sure all of them are in place and not cracked. and gas is in your tank!

Parts should not be a problem it is a 150 scoot I think yours is water cooled is IT? Also what year is it.
DID you test for SPARK? Very easy to do take the spark plug out or if you have a spare plug just take the boot cap off the plug in the motor and stick the spare plug in the BOOT then hold it AGISANT the VALVE COVER and crank it and see if it is sparking. IF SPARKING then you know YOUR COIL IS GOOD, YOUR CDI IS GOOD YOUR PICKUP COIL IS GOOD AND YOUR STATOR IS GOOD.
So that means the no start is something else FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM LOW COMPRESSION.
I do not know why you changed the CDI and since the original or the one that was on there is bigger than the one you got IT MAY BE A DC CDI and the one you got is AC. Which it will work but it will go bad pretty quick. So to check if your scoot takes a DC CDI TEST the BOTTOM WIRE(POWER WIRE) on the TWO PLUG of the CDI. If it registers 12volts then your scoot is a DC CDI version and you got the WRONG CDI you got an AC CDI.
But IF IT WAS RUNNING and it kept dieing after coming to stops without giveing it throttle then the problem is the VALVES are tight are are being left a little open and loosing compression. IF SO adjust both valves to .004 inchs. Alleyoop
But you can test most of the things on the electrical side to see if they are good or bad. You can test the PICK UP COIL, you can test the STATOR You can test most of the CDI.

It very well can be the valves being tight and not closing when hot as the fellows suggest
