Fuel problem?

I was riding and my scooter started sputtering on me, stoped for a bit, sputtered again, and then died. I cleaned the carb and changed the spark plug. Now it will start and running for a second and then sounds like it's choking out and dies. Any suggestions? It's my only ride and need to get it running asap. Please help!

What kind of Scooter? 50cc? 150cc? or ? two stroke?
Home many miles on her?
Are you verifying you have Spark after it dies?
Have you checked the Gas cap vent? pop the cap and try it.
Have you ever adjusted the Valves?
