Greeting all, Kenny5 here. Home 20 here in the Great State of WVa. I'm not new to working on scooters but it been a few years since. I would like some advice on setting up Chinese scoots to climb long steep grades. I know that is a real challenge for a 50cc. Here in WVa. Big bore kits oil coolers. I would some advice on modifications on clutches rpm. slip ratio's variation weights so on. All suggestions would be greatly welcomed. I have taken on, 2 scoots to repair to make better if at all possible. Kenny5

Hey hi,,welcome to scooter doc! As far as making the 50 take on hills ,,the quickest and easiest method is to open up the intake and exhaust,,with a free flow air filter/intake and an exhaust system,,that will gain you a 2-3hp which may not sound like a lot but when you only have 5-6 to begin with that's quite a bit ,,,tuning the variator is something to consider,,lighter weights will get you a "lower gear ratio" meaning it will stay in a lower ratio longer so there will be better torque for take off and hills,,,a slightly stronger contra spring will also help the machine stay in the lower ratios longer so it'll be in the "sweet spot" of hp and torque so hills are easier and take off are better,,,then next on the agenda is bigger displacement ,,new barrel piston and cylinder and head I think that'll take you to 82cc if memory serves,,,another route you may want to consider is NOS,,one of the members here czmdiver put a quick shot nitros system on his 150 and he was happy,,,it gives you a few horses when you need it at the touch of a button and it's not on all the time,,,but don't forget you only have just shy of 3 cubic inches there isn't a whole lot there to play with,,,,,BUT keep this in mind in 2008 the buddfab 50cc streamline went 144.9 mph at bonneville so fast can be had with 50cc it's just a matter how much dough you have

Great news,,with a little judicious modding you can extract a couple three ponies that weren't there before
