Good day,

Have bought this bike for $150 that was diagnosed by some repair shop with a bad stator.  The bike had suddenly stopped after a long period sitting and running at idle and then never started again.  I first had to find a replacement and these are hard to get because new ones are unavailable (the part is obsolete) and the used one are getting rarer and rarer every day... so I installed a used "working" stator, ordered on ebay from a seller who has 100% ratings, with no result. Still no spark.   So I went to educate myself even more on the subject of "no spark" and found exhaustive information that leads me to conduct continuity tests on my new and old stator and on my new and old coil as well (yes, forgot to tell you... I had also purchased a new coil, CDI module, regulator and air filter kit for very cheap so I figure might as well get those too just in case).

So to make a long story short, let's just say that now that I have replaced the stator, the CDI module, the coil and the spark plug, that I've also checked that the kill switch is good (this front plastic dash is such a pain to open... %#@@) and that I have continuity between my motor casing and my ground.  After all this, well believe it or not, I still have no spark.

So now I am facing a possible wire problem, in such case I would need a wiring diagram or I would like to ask if anybody is aware of a way to test the piston position sensor that is attached to the stator and send the pulse to the CDI.  Both my old and new are reading about 220Ώ between the output and the ground (or NEG -) which sounds normal to me, but what if the flywheel is bad, not exiting the pulse sensor ?  Like I would need a way to test the output while I am cranking the motor.  Think a 0-5v computer data pulse meter could blink to prove that it works ? 

I am out of ideas, thanks for any clues.

Check the little trigger/pickup coil by the flywheel,,this is most likely the culprit in this problem,,the ignition is not getting a signal to fire,,,it's either that or the flywheel magnet has lost its magnetism,,(rare but we've seen it here a couple times)

Thanks for your reply Cyborg. Since I have replaced the stator with a new one that had its own pickup coil, you are right that I should consider the flywheel magnet now. Can you tell me if the magnet for the pickup coil is a different one that the inside magnet that create the stator curent. Because I have tested the output supplied by the stator when I crank the motor and I have a nice 12VAC output, this is why I was asking for a way to test the pickup coil pulse output ?

No it's a different magnet imbedded in the rim where the pickup coil runs,,,we've had a few cases of it losing magnetism here,,,rare but it does occur
