You need a multi meter.. but it is more important to test the power coming from the stator and pick-up coil... Attachments:

Thanks Guys!
You really don't know how much I appreciate your help! I just ordered a flywheel puller and, as soon as I can confirm the number of coils on my stator I will order a replacement. I've also found a pretty awesome price on ebay for a new starter.
I'm hoping, even with the mess I've made of things, to get 'er fixed up for under $100.
So, I'll get let you know once I get the stator and starter in whether or not we have lift off.
Thanks!

Hey Fellas! It's been a little while since my last post and I want to give an update and post a question: I just now got my flywheel off. I bought a strap wrench thinking that I could remove it with a ratchet. I was sorely surprised to find that it wouldn't budge. Last Friday I borrowed an impact from a friend and was (again) surprise at how easily it came off. Having the right tools makes a huge difference. I now know that I have a 6-coil stator. My question is this; Can I purchase an 8-coil stator as a replacement, or should I stick with a 6?I hope to order this this week and report back with some good news Thanks!

You can put in an 8 coil but you need to replace the rectifier/regulator as well. They can be rewired, but it is hit and miss...

Good news report! My scooter started and ran for the first time last night! I went out of town but when I returned I put in a new stator and it fired up on the first try. It idles and has plenty of power. Now, for my final question on this thread; What should my top speed be? This scoot has a performance CDI, performance Exhaust, new coil, new stator (of course), and new spark plug. I thought for sure that I had heard that I should get at least 60mph but I topped out at 50mph. It felt like it could do more but seemed restrained. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!

'Performance' electrical parts do hardly anything over stock parts... so it won't change anything except perhaps shift the power curve slightly and remove the rev limiter... NCY CDIs do have a slight top end gain perhaps 2 mph...
Sounds like you need to do some miles and then take a plug read... with a new exhaust you may need to increase the main jet size...usually you go up 2 sizes for a free flow exhaust and 2 for a UNI filter...
Good to hear you are riding again

Nalrac, GOOD JOB BRO!! You followed Sprockets advice and testing procedures and hung in there and now you know a hell of a lot about your scoot and how some things work. As far as loss of speed the electrical will not do nada. Look for things like lack of fuel to much fuel, Something in the CVT like worn out weights with flat spots really worn belt, Valves are to tight etc.. Ride Safe Alleyoop

Thanks guys! I'm going to take a look at the CVT this weekend. I'm guessing that's what it is myself. May pick me up some new sliders from Dr. Pulley
