Insurance is required in Indiana, by the state. No ins. and you get stopped, you get ticketed, fined and vehicle towed. Same as Dallas however, the number of illegals here is considerably smaller than Dallas TX, although there are some. I live in a very small community. In the bigger cities, like fortwayne or indianapolis the illegals are rampant, like everywhere else in this counry. When I lived in Fort Wayne, the apartment 2 doors down from me was a 1 bedroom and there were at least 9 adults and so many kids you couldn't count all of em living there. All the men would sit out on their car hoods drinking beer and smoking weed every evening. Absolutely NOTHING was ever said or done about it!

Uninsured Cars Off The Road

Recently, the City of Dallas , Texas , passed an ordinance stating that if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance, the car is towed.

To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released. This has made it easy for the City
of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.

Shortly after the "No Insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days.
80 + % of the impounded cars were driven by illegals.

Not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released,
they have to pay for the cost of the tow, a $350 fine, and $20 for every
day their car is kept in the lot.

Accident rates have gone down 47% and... Dallas ' solution gets uninsured drivers off the road WITHOUT making them show proof of nationality.

Wonder how the ACLU or the Justice Department will get around this one.

Absolutely perfect. I used to listen to the police radio's some years ago and quit after getting so mad hearing the dispatcher tell the cop there was no insurance listed for the car he was stopping and never hearing him call for a tow. If my car was hit by a vehicle just stopped for no insurance and let drive off, I would sue the cop for the damages. john

yes we experience the same in nj......heavy fines for not producing registration...esp.......there was a time they would give you 24 hours to produce the paper work....not anymore can just tow away.....its all about the kaching............

In Florida you can't get a tag unless you can provide insurance card for the vehicle your trying to get a tag for

I bought a like new $2200 real john deere lawn mower last christmas eve for $325, it is maybe 10 years old but the paint wasn't even worn off the foot boards. Bet some one there was short on christmas presents till I showed up!
