It sort of helped, but mine is different enough that it isn't timing correctly still. I'm at the point that I just do complete 360 with regards to the repositioning of timing change one tooth at a time

arent these little motors interference motors that will blow if they jump time? idk but i would find out if its potentially hazardous to try the 1 tooth at a time bit.

Yes they are interference engines.. one cam link out, won't whack a valve but two links out on the cam chain may...

Set the engine to TDC and align the cam sprocket to the head and replace the cam chain then tension it... only way to guarantee your timing.

Damn it that isn't helping, it isn't the gap, it isn't spark, it isn't anything but timing & tdc isn't right either. I put it at the t mark, take timing chain off, reset the tdc replace chain, put together doesn't start. There are no other steps, I'm getting poised what other process should I try? I mean seriously, it has been sitting for4 months, please help

Well then forget about putting it on the T mark. You need to make sure the PISTON is all the way up. So take the plug out get a straw and put it down in the pistion and rotate it slowly and watch the straw go up and down. You will need to do this just a couple of times to see when the straw comes out the furthest. Then set the cam and chain. Then for the hell of it look at where the Flywheel is pointing at. I bet it is proabably pointing before the T.

One other point DID You ever take the FLywheel off? Have you checked the WOODRUFF key. If for some reason it moved out or came out or is damaged it will throw the timeing way off and you will never get it timed right.

Ok, finally, SUCCESS!!! It started, it runs, it lives. Weeeee, the problem was me. I didn't pull the shroud off so I could see the T mark properly. I did I saw the problem, it worked, I'm sorry I rated all this time.

Just wanted to bring this back up to get Seanstr to tell everyone what to watch out for when timeing your motor. This can be a very good example of what to watch out for when trying to re-time a motor.

Sorry, the problem was me. I got lazy, & wouldn't take off the shroud that covers the thing that looks like an automotive fan for the blower. With it out of the way I saw just how far I was off with the timing.

So how did you set it where did you line it up to?

Exactly lined up with T, exactly, I was off atleast 2 teeth on cam. Now the headlight is out again & it isn't charging again. It's on same circuit. Have to find it.
