idle jet in a new carb By gingel (Read 1,744 times)

Hello,

I got a new carburetor, and i have a question about the idle jet.
it looks like the idle jet is higher compared to the old carburetor.
i uploaded a picture of the new carburetor with the fuel bowl removed,
and also a picture of the idle jet itself.

This is a picture of my old carburetor with the idle jet is much
lower inside.

Btw, it's a 24mm keihin carburetor (CVK).
Whay do you think?

did you see a carburetor with an idle jet like that one?

I also noticed that the wires of the auto choke are opposite.
when i connect the wire to the scooter (only one way to do it),
the green wire from the auto choke is connected to the yellow in the scooter.
and the yellow wire from the auto choke is connected to the green wire
in the scooter.

Does it matter for the auto choke or the scooter electric system?

Green wires are grounds on scooters, usually. If you hook a green wire to a power line you will blow a fuse or cause a mini-melt down...


The green wire on the enricher may be grounder or it may not. If it is NOT grounded then it doesn't matter how the enrichers is hooked up...


Check both power wires going to the enricher to be certain neither is grounded...

how do i check if the power wires of the choke are grounded?
i need to check continuity between them and what?


What about the idle jet, did see one like that in a scooter carburetor?

No I have never seen an idle jet like that.. but there are hundreds of carb makers in China...

It should work well...

Check continuity between the wires and ground... the frame or engine metal

Do you mean the wires that come out from the choke,
or the wires that come out from the scooter wire harness?

The choke...actually it is a heater coil...neither wire should be grounded

I'm a little confused

if i'll check the wires that comes out from the choke (while disconnected from the scooter wire harness),
against the frame, then i will not get any continuity because the carburetor is not touching the frame or motor. right?

Yup.. you got it...you want to verify that the two wires are positive and negative for the heater coil and neither are grounded... no continuity between either wire and ground...

99% it is fine... but because the wires are weird colours you should verify it...

I uploaded a picture, should i check continuity between these wires and the frame?

If the choke is disconnected then there will be no continuity between the wires and frame, because the carburetor is not touching the frame.

YOU said the wire was GREEN.. it is green and black, big difference... just hook it up to the harness and forget it... it will be fine...

oh, i just noticed the green. opps...

but let's say it was all GREEN, the method to check if it's grounded is like i wrote in the picture?

Another way to check it out is Just connect it directly to the battery, so if anything is wrong the only thing that will happen is the ENRICHER fries.

well, it seems to work. nothing burned ;D

I have a question about the main jet:
the new carburetor have a #105 main jet, and the old one have #95.
should i use the #95 main jet from the old carburetor?
