We have many SYM manuals in the Scooter Doc Library including the service manual for your bike. The Library is ridiculously underused and there is a wealth of information there.
I got this wiring diagram out of the SYM Euro Sevice manual. There are two flavors of stator but the three phase has three yellow wires so it must be the one in the below diagram:
The blue/yellow (L/Y) wires are the trigger coil so hook them together. The red/black is the CDI AC feed so it's got to be around there somewhere, probably hanging away from the harness somewhere. Find the two red/blacks and hook them together. The yellow is an AC feed to the lights, hook the two yellows together. Pink is sometimes substituted for white so I think you'll be safe hooking the white to the pink. The white as you can see runs to the R/R and supplies the charging circuit. To be completely sure the pink is the same as the white, trace the pink and make sure it terminates on the R/R.

Do you mean it won't kick start? Also, start it up and check the charging voltage at the battery with a multimeter. That will tell us if the pink wire is actually the charging circuit feed.
my bike it self just has 3 that are yellow, pink and blue/yellow. Do you mean there are three yellows and then a pink and blue/yellow, for a total of five? Or is it a yellow, pink, and blue/yellow for a total of three? I keep reading it different.

Well if it won't start without a battery that tells me the CDI is DC and needs 12v from the battery. But the battery in and then test the BOTTOM WIRE on the 2 PLUG CDI and see if it registers 12v. Alleyoop

Well if it won't start without a battery that tells me the CDI is DC and needs 12v from the battery. Great point Alley. I was a little uncertain about his system being AC or DC because the DC systems I've run into are three phase stators with three yellows. Now I'm thinking he might have been better off to swap stators and use his old one on the new engine. Then it would have been almost plug and play.

We have that manual in the library, that's where I got the diagram for the AC system. The other diagram for the 50s is the three phase I mentioned and it is a DC system:
However, that scooter will have the three yellow wires which he is sure he doesn't have.

thankyou very much for all your help yesterday i got round to changing the stators and it now works perfect i was told that changing the stator i would need a pulling tool and syms have sperate ones to other scooters but instead we used a good old screw driver and a hammer it worked just as well and best thing was i didnt have to pay a penny. once again thankyou very much
