Hello,
I am new to this scooter thing. This is what i know i was able to identify the scooter as a 50CC from the identification number that i found. Besides that i know nothing.
I was given this scooter as a friend couldnt get it running. I replaced the carb with a new one and redid all the wiring, removed everything but the basics no lights horn or anything.
Here is the problem, i have good fuel supply to the carb, it will start right up run about 10 seconds then die. I am able to restart in about 1 min and the same thing. I can start it and run with WOT, but still the same dies after about 10 - 15 Sec. Not sure where to go next.
Also i have the intake removed and noticed when i get it started i can place my hand over the intake it dies from being choked out and my hand is covered in fuel. Any suggestions where to start will be greatley appreciated. I have read adjust valves does this seem like a viable solution?

Readjusting the valves never hurts, especially in the case of a 50cc which starts out with tight tolerances. I would see if it's getting gas to the float in a steady stream by opening up the drain plug and sucking on the vacuum line to the petcock. It could be a fuel filter problem. My take is that it's slowly filling up the float, runs until it drains it and in the minute between starts, it re-fills. If it idles and runs WOT then the carb is working, it's just running out of fuel. If you could hook up a line from another fuel source to the carb bypassing your tank and fuel filter that would tell you a lot, especially if it keeps running. Crud in the tank or fuel filter would be your next step.
