Ive noticed that the last 1/4 throttle is basically not needed. I dont take off or accelerate any faster whether if im at half throttle or wot to cruising speed. The only thing wot will do is give me some more mph if I max out while cruising. I find that i can hit 35 without pegging the throttle and anything else is wasting fuel. To get the extra few mph is not worth the tradeoff in my opinion. There is no noticeable difference like you would notice in a car for example to pegging the throttle at any time.

You should give it a try. That gas gauge will stay higher up longer

Any vehicle experiences air resistance along with many other forces that resist it's forward motion including mechanical friction of the moving parts. The sum of all of these forces is drag. The reason you hit a sudden wall and only waste gas from that point on is drag increases exponentially with speed, it is not a linear function. A linear function looks like this:

It's a straight line when plotted out. This would mean for each unit of speed there would be a unit of drag and the ratio would not change regardless of how fast you went. If this were the case you would be able to get quite a bit more speed with that last bit of throttle.

However, drag increases exponentially with speed. As your speed increases the units of drag get larger and larger. Here is an actual drag vs speed chart:

You see the drag starts to increase more and more as the speed increases forming the classic exponential curve when plotted out. Your bike does well until the drag forces start soaring per speed unit and then it simply cannot push through the wall of air. This next chart will be more relevant for you, horsepower needed per unit of speed:

More and more horsepower is needed per unit of speed. I forget what a 50cc's HP rating is but I'll guess 8. So at some point the bike needs a huge jump in HP to overcome the soaring drag. You jump from needing 7 HP to 8 HP all for a tiny increase in speed. So tiny you think it did nada. It seems like you're just wasting gas, and you are.

A scientist in Bamahamming has discovered that the HP designation on a 50cc scooter is actually completely different from the classic horsepower connotation. It actually means...uh...Hyper he man power and each unit is equal to 50,000 regular horsepowers. Yeah...that's it...50K....moving on!

So if i ride via remote control Ill have 2.5 more HP! Wahoo!
