Here is where I got my meter. It's an LCD back lit meter so you can see it in bright sunlight and at night.

These most likely are better than what's in our scoots, but they are strictly rectifiers and an additional regulator would also be necessary. This vendor also makes the regulator/rectifier units like ours, but I don't see an exact replacement. It will be interesting to see what response, if any, zug gets on his inquiry.

He sounds like hes not sure if he wants to jump in on the scoots. I just sent him a link to some of the wiring diagrams. Any chance anyone has a diagram of just the charging system?

Im sure he makes one already that would work with the various scoots. Im hoping he will do the research on it because Im usually to tired to look at wiring diagrams, atleast during the week. This heat and 10-12hr days are wiping me out. If I dont hear back from him after a few days I will see if I can dig up some of the motorcycle wiring diagrams and compare them to the scoot ones and find out what might work.

This weekend I rode over to my uncle's house but before I went I just reached up under the plastic where the regulator is and jiggled the wires around some. Voila! it was charging at 16VDC when I got to 5000 RPM's. I hit a bump and it went back down to barely 13VDC, so I know that i have a loose connection in that area somewhere.

I was kinda waiting for damin to get his fixed for sure before I tore into mine but after that I have a pretty good idea where my problem lies. Maybe I'll afford myself some time for that this weekend.

Ok. This freaking sucks. Drove to wok all went well only 62 degrees so fan did not have to run much. Scooter started right after work. Drove 30 miles to go check on one of my caches shut scooter off go to restart not enougjh battery to start it. I am going to look through my computer fans to night. I have a couple of aluminum paniflows need to see what cfm they are. What should I have colectively for CFM accross the radiator on the YY250T?

Oh yeah forgot to mention it was 81 degrees this afternoon. Now went and watched my sons Little league game which was 3 miles from my cache I was checking on of course it would not start after the game just jumped it with spare battery. drove down 8 miles south to grab a bite to eat temps down to about 70 degrees 8 pm. eat come out scooter starts right up. Man this whole charging issue just TICKS me off.

Ok I need to look up the stats on these but what do you think so far?
mounted on the correct bracket think these might do the trick?
3 of these side by side only .6 amp draw now that is what Im talking about. Plus I know they are very good fans..... :-)
After a bit of digging I found the basic specs for these fans
0.2A, 1700 RPM @ 32 dba for 68 CFM

Since damin seemed to find a bad connection as his problem, this morning I set out to find mine and I believe I have a bad regulator.

The AC voltage coming out of the stator is 25-35VAC until you plug it back into the regulator. When you plug it back in the voltage coming out of the stator drops to about 5-7VAC. DC voltage coming out of the other side is about 2.5VDC.

I therefore have determined that I have a bad regulator/rectifier.

Gonna look thru this posting and see about one of the ones listed to order. Anyone think there is a chance that I could find one locally rather than order it? Where would I look?

you are only getting 25 volt AC out of the Stator? You should be between 60 and 100 VAC coming out of stator.

Really? Everything I have read elsewhere said the voltage coming out of the stator should be about 30 volts +/-

Hey Tony at oregonmotorcycleparts said that the YY250T diagram looks like a normal 3 phase permanent magnet charging system but he also says he doesnt have a reg/rect that works well with the low output systems on these scoots, but hes currently working on a solution.

I did some more testing on my scoot and discovered that at 5000 RPM one of the stator wires was easily putting out 60VAC, one was putting out about 50VAC and the last one was putting out 45VAC. Previously I was testing them at idle (a little under 2000RPM.) Still when I plug the rectifier in they all dropped down to about 5V and there seemed to be very little DC voltage output on the secondary side of the rectifier. This leads me to believe the rectifier is in fact bad, but perhaps my stator is not putting out what it should?

If my stator is going bad, I think I found one to fit my MC-54-250B. It says "GY6 250CC water cooled" and I think that the cfmoto version is the "GY6" version but this one MIGHT fit. Any ideas?
