Lol. So I took the plunge and had a shop look at it. He sad it was the clutch. So he changed it and cleaned the carburetor. It seems to be fixed. But it seems slower the scooter now. Is that normal?

"Well, you said it turned when you turned the clutch bell. They probably meant turning the clutch itself, in that case, the wheel should not turn. Just a misunderstanding I think. If you turn the clutch bell and the wheel turns...all is well and, if it turns freely, (and the belt is not turning) it means your clutch is not locked to the bell"
That is what was said on another forum. So there saying its normal for the back wheel to move when the clutch bell is moved. ?

I see. Yeah. My back wheel was moving slow and making a grinding noise when I turned the bell.

Haha. Thank you for that. That's what my dad just told me. I'm curious to take it apart tomorrow and see if a spring is broken. If so, can't I just get one from a auto parts store? A scooter shop in Raleigh might have one. They might charge me an arm and a leg for a clutch. .

Actual. When I took the cover off, and hand turned the clutch the back wheel turned with it. That sound like a broken spring that has a pad stuck out? Is the real wheel supposed to move when I turned the clutch?

When I took it off I did notice a little bit of oil on the bottom of the casing where the kick stand part would be.

Look at where the belt is sitting in the pulleys. Remember in the Variator the belt should be all the way down and in the clutch pulley it should be near the edge of the pulleys. So if the belt is sitting correct in the pulleys and you start it up and it spins the wheel at low rpms that means the CLUCH pads are grabbing the bell(which would mean something is broken) OR the Belt is HIGH in the Variator and the BELT is already quite a bit down in the CLUTCH pulley. The Clutch works with centrigfigual force and it if the springs are not broken and or the pads where the spring hooks onto is not broken it takes about 2000+ of rpms of centrifigual force to throw out the pads and grab the bell to turn the wheel. BUT if something is broke it will throw out the broken pad out at LOW rpms and turn the wheel. So my thinking is part of your clutch is broken. The parts are not of very high quality they where all made in china and it depends on the quality control of the factory and the quality of the metal they use to build certain parts. Usually they last a pretty long time but as you well know there are some parts that may have defects. Alleyoop I would have to check they tomorrow. Would you recommend that I just buy a new clutch off of eBay? There only like 40 bucks. But I just got this scooter not even 2 months ago.

Man I should have taken a picture. Tomorrow I will pull it off and post a picture. It looks just like the pic, but newer. The belt was tight. It didn't seem like it was hanging. Although I didn't take the clutch off. Maybe that's what I should do? If its a broken spring, how the heck does they happen? Is that a normal thing to happen when the scooter has symptoms like I described?

Hello all. I am new to this forum as I have found it on Google. I plan to stay, there are so many scooter forums. I never really wanted to get down and nitty gritty with the scooter but Its looking like Ill have to. I have a 2015 TaoTao Scooter, 49CC. It has about 1200KM on it now. Everything has been fine. I have put a new exhaust on it. And a new NGK spark plug. This was all done a little while ago. Today I went to start it up and it started fine and idled fine. I have the idle set a little high. When I put it on the floor stand, I noticed the back wheel spinning. It was fine before, I set the idle right before the wheel spins. I turned the idle down and I had to turn it almost a full turn to get it to stop spinning, now the scooter has a really low ide but runs. As I went to take off, the power is really slow and then it feels like it catches into gear. Then as I'm taking off, it feels like its stuck in first gear for so many seconds with a high rev, and then kicks into another gear with a jerk.
Never had this issue before. Just changed the oil to Mobile 1 Synthetic and it has a full tank of gas. This is driving me nuts, all hoses all look nice and tight. Is this a clutch problem? I took the cover off and looked at everything but don't know exactly what I'm looking at. The clutch seems fine. Put it all back on, went for another ride. Same thing. Once it gets past that first really long high revving gear, it jerks into the next gear and rides good. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you guys!
