Man did mods all through this scooter just like folks do to the cheaper Chinese scooter, poor mirrors, lights, plastic poor and latest reviews on the newer ones the same, plastic looks cheap and second class.
One would expect this on a $1500 250 but at $4k? I can buy two of the 250's and still stay under $4k. Which is probably why CF Moto US did this. cfmoto-us.com/sites/default/files/files/P01-PSB1-News-lr.pdfYou get dealer input and products get fixed.

It doesn't matter. That timing mark fires the spark plug on both strokes-compression and exhaust. It's called a Waste Stroke. You just have to make sure the cam has both valves slack when the piston is at Top Dead Center. I screwed up the cam timing on a Volkswagen Dasher years ago and it ran like your scooter. Once I got all the timing marks aligned it ran like a sewing machine.

Yes, I've been out on three of them. Only the Fashion has remained idle. Just for yucks I took the wife's bike out. It's a ball to shift again. The other two are both running fine. I'll update mileages at the end of the month.

A true misname if ever there was one. A 600 pound moped? Where are the pedals?

Cookees says the Puma Valentine looks nice from a distance but not so good up close. Underneath it's standard Chinese. I would spring the extra $300 for the shifty Stella myself but I'm not buying anything anytime soon.

If it's not the valves your carburetor diaphragm is torn. It's a pretty typical problem on the Linhai 257.

It almost sounds like the float is sticking and flooding the engine. Did you try changing the spark plug. Sometimes when the engine floods the spark plug quits under load. You might also try spraying a little starter fluid in the spark plug hole and see if it fires even briefly.
Also check and make sure all the vacuum lines are hooked up properly. That can be a problem too.

Cool. It's always nice to see an old warrior hit the streets again.

I am so tired of this weather. I've had three out of my four bikes out so far this year. Last to hit the pavement will be the Fashion. I've even ridden the Rebel for yucks.

Scratch the not sticking. The grass has about a half inch of snow and it's still coming down. It better melt tomorrow.

No, because the belts on bikes are cog tooth belts. They engage in sprocket pulleys like cam belts in an overhead cam engine. Scooter belts are like the V belts on an alternator and slip all the time. In theory motorcycle belts are even more efficient than chains because of less internal friction.
