mapbike,
I'm having a similar issue. Can you tell me this; does your tail light work although the headlights and dash don't?

Does the switch control/affect the tail light too?

Thanks sprocke,
Turns out my voltage is exactly where it should be. My gauge must be unreliable. However, here's a new development:
I noticed that my tail light wasn't working either. My brake light (front) and turn signals are fine. This morning I started her up and the headlights (high and low) and tail light were working great. By the time I got to the end of my driveway they were off again. This time they didn't flicker like before. It was like flipping a switch...
Could it be my switch is bad? Would this affect my tail light too?
Thanks!

Thanks fellas! So, just to be clear, if I am getting a higher reading and my regulator is bad how does this affect my headlights? If my reading is good, then could it be a bad ground?

Obviously, if it's not one thing, it's another...
I noticed on my way to the office this morning that my dash lights were flickering. I didn't think much of it until tonight when I went to take my scoot out and my headlights/dashlights/rear-brake light aren't working.
My headlights WILL come on but very dimly lit when I rev the engine. As you know, I recently replaced my stator. I noticed today that it's putting out 16v consistently. Is this too high. Is my voltage regulator bad?

Trip Meter

I drove my scoot to the office for the first time today. It did a GREAT job and maintained what seemed to be about 50-55 mph. I'm still working on upgrading my belt to a slightly longer one to get some higher top-end.
My question today is this; why would my trip meter, on a 28 mile trip, say that it was 37+ miles? My speedometer is in Mph not Kmph.
Any ideas?

Thanks guys! I'm going to take a look at the CVT this weekend. I'm guessing that's what it is myself. May pick me up some new sliders from Dr. Pulley

Good news report! My scooter started and ran for the first time last night! I went out of town but when I returned I put in a new stator and it fired up on the first try. It idles and has plenty of power. Now, for my final question on this thread; What should my top speed be? This scoot has a performance CDI, performance Exhaust, new coil, new stator (of course), and new spark plug. I thought for sure that I had heard that I should get at least 60mph but I topped out at 50mph. It felt like it could do more but seemed restrained. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!

I'm no expert, but I just got my Roketa Bali up and running after having similar problems. Do you have any fire to the spark plug now? Because mine would start up and run for just a few minutes/miles then die because it wasn't getting fire to the plug.
It turned out that I had a bad stator and CDI. After replacing both it purrs like a kitten.

Hey Fellas! It's been a little while since my last post and I want to give an update and post a question: I just now got my flywheel off. I bought a strap wrench thinking that I could remove it with a ratchet. I was sorely surprised to find that it wouldn't budge. Last Friday I borrowed an impact from a friend and was (again) surprise at how easily it came off. Having the right tools makes a huge difference. I now know that I have a 6-coil stator. My question is this; Can I purchase an 8-coil stator as a replacement, or should I stick with a 6?I hope to order this this week and report back with some good news Thanks!

Thanks Guys!
You really don't know how much I appreciate your help! I just ordered a flywheel puller and, as soon as I can confirm the number of coils on my stator I will order a replacement. I've also found a pretty awesome price on ebay for a new starter.
I'm hoping, even with the mess I've made of things, to get 'er fixed up for under $100.
So, I'll get let you know once I get the stator and starter in whether or not we have lift off.
Thanks!

OK. Thanks. So, how's the best way to test the CDI?
