50CC Tao Tao High miles - has run well.
I was riding to the train station this morning and thought I heard a crack/bang and then the scooter lost 80% of its power- sounded the same - engine was still running, so it wasnt a fuel issue. Just lost drive power and couldnt even make it up a small incline - and would only go 10 mph on the flats. Turned around to go home - made it 1/4 mile then total drive power loss - with the engine still firing normal - just no gears engaging. Felt like when you are driving a stick shift and you hit the gas but its out of gear. Very strange. Anyways - I have tackled some repairs before - nothing too heavy. Thought I would throw this out there before I start messing around. Any ideas? I am guessing something major - Valve / cylinder etc.

Well - doesnt look like the belt. Pulled the cover - Belt intact w/o any visua signs of tear at all. Still turns with the pulley. Scooter wont start now. - sounds like it never catches / engaging at. I ll try to do a better diagnoses of what I am hearing - doesnt sound/ feel like fuel issue tho.,

When you took the cvt cover off was it turning the wheel if you gave it gas. Check around the carb area for anything that might have come loose or off. Alleyoop
