Hi All,
I have a 2009 ZNEN Il Bello Flyscooter--150cc. It has been a great ride until last night. As I was riding home, my headlight starting flickering, and the scooter eventually died while I was riding it. I pulled over and checked on the battery connection, which seemed okay, and tried to start it again. Maybe I tried a little too hard--when I lifted the seat to double-check the connection, it looked like smoke was coming from the battery.
I ended up getting it towed home, but am not sure how to go about fixing. Is a new battery enough? The smoke factor makes me think maybe not...!
I am a bit clueless about scooter repair--I need your wisdom!
Happy 4th! --LSloan

Yowsa! I had had mine do that also. Pissed me right off. I had just re-done my new HID lights and was out for a ride. It died. So, I looked around and found the main fuse was blown. Replaced it. Batt was dead. Hooked up cables and the thing started smoking. Got it towed to the shop and it had to have about 50% of the wiring harness replaced. All because the Reg/Rec was bad and I didn't know it. Lots of $$$ later, It was still traumatizing me, but running.

It's possible that a cell in the battery shorted out. Take the battery out and take it to an auto parts place or Wally World and have them test the battery. If the battery is OK we have more extensive problems to deal with as G Man said. Rich

Also if you leave the start button pressed while trying to start it for more than 3 seconds and the engine is not turning you can end up burning the wires at the battery. that will cause smoke.
