REMOVING PAIR SYSTEM GY6 150CC By akuma (Read 6,655 times)

Hello to all. 

Need help with removing the EGR (Pair System) from my 150cc gy6 scooter.  Actually it's already removed and pcv block off plate installed but but no one shows the complete procedure of what to do with the remaining hoses after you remove the factory air box and canisters so that everything runs perfectly. Any help will be greatly appreciated and hope this will help others as well that want to remove it and just run with an aftermarket air filter. I will post the pictures of what I have left and hopefully you guys can guide me step by step on what to remove and what to leave.

Well EGR and PAIR system are TWO different things.

The PAIR system is the one with the Chrome pip by the VALVE COVER, if that is what you are talking about that just sucks in fresh air and the only hose you have to block off is the VACUUM hose at it's origin. Then like you did block the hole by the head like you did using a plate. Then just pull the canister and the hoses out.

The EGR what that does is sends unburned fumes back through the carb to be reburned. On that one there is a valve WELDED on the pipe a hose goes to a canister or some valve which is ALSO VACUUM operated. But on that one a HOSE is connected between the CARB and the AIR FILTER. So on that one you block pull the hosee off the Valve welded on the pipe and BLOCK that connector(YOU CAN USE JB WELD TO BLOCK OFF THE CONNECTOR) then block the VACUUM LINE at is ORIGIN that is hooked up to the canistor or valve then pull the hose connected to the AIR TUBING going to the carb and BLOCK the CONNECTOR on the tubing and you then can pull all that stuff off.

Here's what I'm left with in pic 1 and continues on pic 2.

Is pic 3 ok? Should i run a straight hose and remove the " T " since I no longer have a petcock as I removed it and put a manual fuel cutoff.

On pic 4 I have a hose coming from the top of the fuel tank and follows on pic 5 and I just left it hanging outside as I don't know what to do with it.

That is just your Crank Case Vent hose. Pull it off the Air Box plug up the connector on the air box and put a fuel filter on the end of that hose and zip tie it higher than the valve cover.

As for the "T" Yes since you only need Vacuum to the ACV valve on the carb just go straight to it and take the "T" off.
And you are done

Disconnect the hose FROM the little valve and put a fuel filter on the end of it and just zip tie someplace that is your GAS TANK VENT HOSE. Then take the little valve and the rest of the hose off.

Great I will buy the filters and try that tomorrow.

Yep then you will ONLY have 1 Vacuum hose and that is from the INTAKE TO THE ACV VALVE on the carb.
One Crank Case Vent Hose and One Tranny Vent hose and of course the fuel hose from the tank to the carb.
Also since the Fuel delivery is Gravity Fed, make sure the Fuel hose from the Tank to the Shut off and to the Carb are going DOWNHILL no ups and downs.

Ok will do. Will post updated pictures tomorrow to make sure everything is correct.

Here is the update. Red shows the fuel filters added to the end. Green shows the straight hose "t" removed and blue the fuel line straight to carb. I think I have to much slack on the fuel hose and should probably cut it shorter so its a nice smooth short curve going down. Let me know if everything is ok.

Yes shorten and straighten the FUEL hose from the gas tank to the petcock and if possible to the carb.
Everything else is good. GOOD JOB AKUMA, with all that stuff off less chance of having things causing problems and vacuum leaks.
