I just purchased a 150CC Chinese scooter!
Besides driving it off a cliff and entering free fall...
What engine upgrades would you perform to open this thing up?
Ive heard of destrict carb... not sure what that means. Do they sell better aftermarket carbs for GY6 engine?
Im not interested in "major" work such as big bore kits etc. Just basic cheaper stuff I can pay guy at scooter store 200-400 dollars to get this thing faster.
Your help much appreciated.

Well without major ENGINE work you can only do CVT upgrades that will get you maybe 3-4 more mph. So the MOST you can expect is NEAR REAL 55mph and that is all she wrote. Now to do that paying someone 200-400 is not worth it since the parts are under 50.00 bucks and can be done in 1/2 an hour. So if you have some tools you can do it yourself it is very easy. Even the gals on here have done more than that Alleyoop

Sounds good to me.
Is there a GY6 engine on ebay or other scooter shop etc that already has bore kit and upgrades I can purchase and bolt on?
Im sure a few guys love to tweak these things out and sell them ready to go. I wouldn't mind spending some coin on that.
Thanks for your help and advice.

I jacked with a intake and some jetting but she seemed shy on rpm's The OE pipe was falling all apart before a 1,000 miles and I dropped it down to find this. The stock Head pipe Flange was welded off center and a huge glob of weld left in with a bunch of flashing, a good percentage of the exhaust port was closed off. So the Intake mod I did was a waste of time, it did nothing with this crap. this can be clean up with a grinder but I decided to pony up for a pipe. I got like $79. in this pipe, the header wrap was sourced from a garbage can at the race track, I sourced a hunk of radiator hose in my barn that I fashioned into a intake and dumped the factory air box, some have made intakes from PVC, a couple of jets and my stocker runs pretty well. Im all about the hot rod deal but mine or similar is a rickety proposition running much over 60 some mph or so.

If you want a lot more out of your 150 sell it and buy a 250 and you will be money ahead. If you could do all your own work it still is going to cost. Most 150s are happy at about 45 or 50 mph. Sure you can go faster but at 55 you have almost no head room left at all.
