Aloha folks I was out riding my Q6 today and i came up on a small speed bump. I stopped at the speed bump and proceeded to ride over it at crawling speed. As I went over I scraped the bottom of my trike. All though i did not see any damage, it made me kind of hesitant about taking the trikes to places where there are speed bumps in the parking lot.
The Ice Bear Q6 has a 5.1 inches ground clearance, and the Ice Bear Cyclone has an even lower 3.5 inch ground clearance.
I know its probably a dumb question, but is there a technique to going over these things without scraping? How do you guys do it? There are some parking lots where there just is no way to get around any of the speed bumps.
Thank you

With the Corvette I would go across at an angle. Get one front wheel to the bump before the chin plow. Try to get one rear wheel to start climbing the bump before the frame does. If you have speed DIPS it might be necessary as well. I was wondering about the same issue if I do decide to buy a trike. Parking lot entrances as well.

Thank you, yes I used to do that with my Fiero and my Nissan 300z back in the day. I tried it today and scraped again.
We may need someone like davec , crwford, or Alley to give us their take on it since they own trikes and davec and crwford both have Zodiacs. The first place that I was going to take my Cyclone was to the shopping center, but unfortunately, the speed bumps there are just plain unavoidable. And these are some of the higher bumps you`ll find.
I never took notice as to how many speed bumps there are out there.
Although it scrapes, I still love riding this trike more than my two wheelers

TO not scrap the bottom you have to get the rear wheel on and the front wheel then turn to get the other rear wheel as you go down the other side. Alleyoop

I'm mostly interested in getting a 300cc. Looking at what Jim offers the ground clearance varies a great deal. Zodiac PST300-19 has 3.7" with 14" wheels. Tornado PST300C has 3.1" with 12" wheels. Magnum 300 PST300R-Upgraded has 5.9" with 12" wheels. Compeller 300 has 6.0" with 14" wheels. It seems the wheel size doesn't necessarily make the difference. But what does? The length of the rear springs and shocks? How the rear end is mounted?

Alley may have an advantage, I think he has larger tires on his trike.

I really haven't any problem with speed bumps on my Zodiac's but my front tire is at 33 PSI rear is 35. I do take is slowly going over them but if I did hit. I would mount a rubber wheel on the lower tube steel so if it hit it would hit rubber wheel and roll over it it was a concern when I saw the lower clearance they have, but never had to just not been a problem.

If you look at any scooter or trike, you will notice that it is LOWER in the front and not as high as the REAR. So it is the way they build the front to hook up to the tree. They have the California Rack I have a great solution DO NOT GO WHERE THERE ARE SPEED BUMPS if there are go around them if you can. Alleyoop

^^^^ Yah right! The landlord will love you going over his grass. In my last house's community we had big speed DIPS. They weren't a problem with my 4x4 truck and Honda Magna. So the manager got really upset that I never slowed down for them.

Maybe some one with nothing better to do could take a camera and place it on the ground and get a shot from the speed bumps perspective. My road here is littered with natural speed bumps.
I don't think a nascar car could make it over a 1/2 inch bump! They are just about scraping the track as is.

I was actually thinking of getting larger tires. Got my Cyclone coming next week tuesday, so I`ll have to out that idea on the back burner.
