Just got this scoot, Taotao Roman 150cc GY6. Starts up cold like a champ. No issues, runs fine. Runs for 5-10 mins and then peters out and dies. Attempt to restart is futile. I have replaced and checked the following… 1. Carburetor: Replaced with new carb, same issue. 2. Valves: Adjusted valve clearances to .004 intake, .005exhaust. 3. Check spark plug. Looks good, No heavy deposits or not too white. *Noticed semi-clear gas filter is only ¼ full. Not sure if only ¼ full gas filter has anything to do with this or not. I “feel” that this is a warm up issues, after warmup / heat issue causing this. Please advise oh great Chinese scooter masters.

SOunds like it is just a fuel delivery problem and it is running off the enricher and once the enricher shuts off the fuel it dies.
I can see the hose coming from the tank and it goes somewhere. You have a GRAVITY fuel system which means Gas has to FLOW DOWN TO THE CARB. So make sure the FUEL HOSE from under the tank DOES NOT HAVE ANY UPS AND DOWNS as well A NOT LOWER than the CARBS FUEL INLET.
Also Turn the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE SCREW CLOCKWISE until it stops then turn it COUNTER CLOCLWISE 2 1/2 turns. Alleyoop

ALLEYOOP~~! will check.... Forgot to mention... the fuel in filter is where you see blue line. About 1/4 - 1/6 the total fuel filter. And I have to wait for scooter to "cool" down until next day or few days for it to start back up again. Or else I just get the starter trying but no turn over. The gas filter rises slightly then goes down.

Ok, the tank appears to have a PETCOCK that screws onto the bottom of the tanK. Thee should be a VACUUM hose connected to it. MAKE SURE THE VACUUM HOSE GOING to the PETCOCK does not have any kinks on it or maybe they connected them wrong. It appears no gas is flowing out of the tank.

If all the connections are good on the PETCOCK take the cap off the gas tank and crank it and see if the gas flows to the filter.

Holy crap... starts up much better now. Fuel filter fills up 1/2 way now. Better than 1/4-1/6 and no start. Took gas cap off ... You mean to tell me.. I took scooter all the way apart for a dang gas vacuum lock?!?!@ lol How do I fix this, cant ride without gas cap for long. Many thanks. Working good so far. Much better gas flow.

If all is connected good and even with the cap off fuel does not flow THEN TAKE THE VACUUM hose off at the INTAKE MANIFOLD and SUCK ON IT and see if fuel then flows. Alleyoop But that is your problem fuel delivery to the carb. Only a few things could be wrong, 1. The tank outlet is clogged or the PETCOCK is bad or No vacuum(which would mean the INTAKE MANIFOLD VACUUM connector is plugged) verify by sticking something small in it.

Also, can I just get rid of vacuum for fuel.... bypass the vacuum activated fuel petcock and install a manual?
: ) Just trying to bullet proof for future.

Fantastic!! I suggest you take the EVAP system completely off and you will not have that problem again.
For now take the HOSE COMING Off the top of the tank it probably goes to a little canister take the hose off from the little canister and zip tie the hose to the frame THEN PLUG up the connector on the canister For now. Later take the rest of the carp off. I will put up how to do that give me a minute to find it. Alleyoop

Here is how to take the emissions ON YOUR SCOOT off. You can replace the petcock with a manual but if you forget to shut it off you will have gas all over the floor if the float does not stop the flow. The Petcocks work and are reliable those are usually not the problem as you just found out .LOL. So I would leav that alone and just take off the emissons and you will have a lot of less hoses and you will have more powerful vacuum to the petcock and carbs ACV valve which is the only Vacuum you will have left if you take the emissions off. PS. Is there a better aftermarket fuel cap or vacuum petcock you recommend?
A better quality petcock and fuel cap would be great.

Removed all extra emissions stuff. still have vacuum lock on gas tank. Little or no gas in fuel filter. For now I just cracked open the gas cap and let it rest on top. I can hear a audible hiss from vacuum. Scoot runs good so far with gas cap cracked open. Thanks again for the help. Going to scoot around today and see what this thing can do.
