What I see as even big issue than the zip ties is the use of ONE screw in the back to raise it up. This will lead to that board splitting in half length wise. He needs another piece of wood mounted with glue and screws it's grain in the opposite direction to elevate the back end and then more zip ties to hold the back end down. And then just as important to seal the boards with paint or varnish. Of course this will double the cost but, it is very very important. I thought about that. Thanks. I used the same setup on my last scooter. I put several thousand miles on it, passed hundreds of cops, and never got pulled over. In fact, I once talked to a cop. He stood next to my scooter and asked me about it. He did not mention the milk crate at all.
