I have a Chinese scooter called Propel del Ray (its a 2008). So I've been looking on this forum to see if there is anything that answers what's wrong with my moped and there isn't anything I've found. My moped was left out in heavy rain a few nights ago. Usually it is fine after a rain, but sometimes it will not work the next day but will start to work after a few days. After this particular rain, my moped would start easy and then I would try to give it some gas and it would start accelerating, but then immediately bog down and then if I hold it at full throttle for a few seconds the moped will shut off completely. Usually it will start working after a few days, but that is not the case this time. The moped continues to do this and will not accelerate/go anywhere. I don't know much about mopeds or cars or anything (just what I've googled). That being said, I checked all hoses going everywhere and there are no cracks in them. There was a small puddle of what seemed to be gas on one side of the air filter and a little bit of water on the other side, but the filter itself was dry. I just had a new carb put on in November so I was really hoping that it wasn't that but nothing else seems to be wrong with it and the problems point to the carb. It was working fine right before the rain and now it will not go anywhere. Please let me know what you think it could be??

Was the puddle gas or water ? Could be the air filter is soaked with water,,, or the auto choke electrical terminals lost connection and it's not giving the engine extra fuel when it's cold,,,

you state that there was water near the air filter and i wonder if it got sucked in hence the bogging and not running.

The pictures is the air filter that I have and so it splits down the middle. The side that is connected to the carb had a small puddle of what smelt like gas but not large. The other side has just a few drops of water. I don't think it is the air filter though because it was completely dry when I checked it.

Well of it starts and runs ,,, start it and let run till it gets up to operating temperature then ride it,,, if it rides ok after warm up it's the choke that's the problem or it's connections

It doesn't run at all though. I don't know how to explain it well but it starts up and then i try to give it gas and if i don't pull the throttle down far it will go no faster than 5mph (probably less) and then when I give it more gas it it stops any movement and if I hold it at full throttle long enough (5ish seconds) it will turn off completely

I have tried letting it warm up for 5-10 minutes without touching it and it still does the same thing

Carb is dirty,,, you need to take the carb off and remove the bowl,,, be careful the screws are very soft metal,,, use a clean sharp phillips ,, inside you'll see the brass jets screwed in the body,, get then really clean with carb cleaner assemble and ride
