so I'm pretty sure there's a thread on this subject already but i have yet to find one depicting a situation like mine. I own a 2008 xingyue xy150t that i bought from a friend of mine, it was a pretty nice scooter until the problems started. Long story short I ended up changing all the electrical components like spark plug,CDI, stator, ignition coil and solenoid but Im still not getting a spark, but what i was thinking is theres probably a short somewhere but I dont know for sure. A fresh point of view or some suggestions on what the problem is or what i might be missing would help a lot. two things i know for sure is fuel is getting to the engine dont think its a ignition switch problem either.

Run a good sized wire or buy a ground strap at an auto parts store and run it from a valve cover bolt to a good clean ground on the frame

so should i replace the old ground wire and lead it to the frame? or just leave the old one where it is while adding another ground wire?

Got a meter? Check continuity from engine to frame,,,,this problem smells like a bad engine ground to me,,,,it may be the cdi trigger coil but let's get the basics out of the way first

so I checked the continuity with my mutimeter i put the black end to the frame then i put the red to the this ground and it beeped but the reading was allover the place

Sand and wire brush the terminals and frame/ engine points and lite that thing up

so here is what im planning on doing based on advice you gave me, let me know if I'm wrong in any way

picture 1 and 2: so the only ground wire on the engine is this green one that leads to the negative on the battery so is this what I should ground to the frame or sand down? or should i keep this ground where it is and add another ground wire to from the valve cover and have it connect to the frame?


Picture 3: would these be good places to connect a ground?

and lastly the ground wire that i show in picture one wont reach anywhere on the frame its only long enough to reach the valve cover

The big black wire with the green flag is the factory ground strap,,,if it's long enough remove it and clean/sand/wire brush it and the spot where it's bolted to,,,if it won't reach from engine to frame replace it,but do clean the spots where you bolt it to

The battery must be grounded to the frame. It doesn't matter how this is accomplished....ground strap/cable straight to the frame, or to the engine first, and then continuing on to the frame. Without this, I can't see how you would have any lights, horn, or other electrics.

Engine must be grounded to the frame......again, it doesn't matter if it goes straight to the frame, or to the battery (-) terminal first, and then on to the frame. Without engine ground, you won't get a spark.

so grounded the wire here sanded it and brushed it, the brake lights worked but the engine still wouldn't start instead it would make a starting noise and a clicking sound i checked the spark plug and no spark

Charge your battery and clean battery terminals and check the power to the starter itself and the solenoid

so charged the battery a decent amount and i checked the power (while turning it over)to the solenoid with a multi meter  12.31 volts 
and the ignition coil/sparkplug wire read 2.09

There may be a problem with the wires or the connectors to the coil,,, had a very similar problem with another member,,, the connector plug was bad,,,

Might be wise to go back to square one and read the original scooter docs spark checking manual, rich took a lot of time with his scooter to write it.
