Afternoon all,
Just bought myself an 83’ Express yesterday. Been riding it around the garden without any issues what so ever. Took it out on its first proper trip and got about 2 miles into the journey, when the engine cut out, rear while wouldn’t budge and neither would the kick start. As the engine started to cut out, I looked down and there was steam/smoke coming from under the CVT cover. I left the bike about 10 mins and the rear wheel realised and and kick start was moving again, however not starting.
All I have down since is replaced the spark plug.
Any idea what the problem could be?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply,
Yeah it is, its two stroke, theres defiantly oil in the tank, could there be a blockage stopping the oil from getting where it needs to get?
That sounds complicated...
Thanks.

Good possibility the oil injection is not working. I always recommend with older and or used by some one else 2strokes to not trust oil injection. For over a million years people have been putting oil and gas together for 2stroke fuel and not having a problem. It works.
When oil injection quits there is no signs of it until it is too late.
Got a friend that 2 seasons ago bought a used evinrude for his pontoon boat. Took it out this year for the first time and it made it about a mile out and quit. When he got it back to the dock had it checked out and it had no compression. It was an older oil injection motor used by some one else.

Hard sieze. That sucks.....sounds like either the injection pump isn't working right, OR you are running the engine lean. An air leak could also cause a lean condition and lead to seizure. At the very least you will be needing to hone the cylinder and inspect everything closely. Odds are you will need a complete piston kit as well as honing the jug. You should also inspect the crank bearings to make sure the crank rotated smoothly. I have soft siezed and hard siezed my Mina several times and it still runs strong. The older 2t motors are built strong and will take a hella bearing and still run great. Good luck man hope things work out for ya. If you don't want to mess with it, I will gladly take it off your hands.....possibly a trade with a Honda Helix. .
