What would happen if I remove this vacuum petcock until I recieved the new one? Will this cause an issue on these small engines? I had a manual petcock on a 1000cc 1978 honda which I would routinely leave open. I would forget to close....never had a problem. That bike had a fuel pump though.....

The reason they put a petcock on a fuel tank is so that should the float stick in carb you will not have gas leaking all over every where including into the crank case. It is a big time safety issue if you are parked in an attached garage and it cuts loose at 3 am while you are tucked in bed.

I understand the safety issue. Operationally, then, no problem?
