Hello All, Here's my cheap exhaust mod, I wanted a new one but my bank account said otherwise. Had a little free time on my hands at work (government job??), and here it is.

Yep, welded it myself. It does sound different, a lot deeper in fact. Beside the UNI filter, I've re-jetted the carb, and installed some 12g rollers. I think I'm going to go with 13g sliders however. It's hillclimbing ability isn't too good. Thats it for mods so far.

Nice scoot. If you want more hill climbling ability you will need Lighter weights to keep the belt in the lower range longer. Heavier weights will get the belt up higher to fast. The 13g Sliders will be almost identical to the 12G Rollers. For hill climbing you want more rpms, so I would try 12G Sliders which would be equivalent to 11G Rollers. Alleyoop

The reason I say that is that I have tried Rollers from 10-13grams and Sliders from 10-13grams. I have found that with Rollers your RPMS will change by 500-600 Up or Down and with Sliders your RPMS will change by 250-350 Up Or Down so its almost half. So if you want to Match the performance of the Rollers you like with Sliders, get 1 Gram Heavier Sliders. Also another extra benefit with the Sliders is that they will give you 1-2mph more top end and will not create Flat Spots as well as smooth exceleration to the top. Alleyoop

LOVE IT! My wife has the same bike and I saw her exhaust was starting to rust. I talked with my Bud who recommended VHT Flame Proof header paint and not BBQ paint. A couple bucks more but it works. The stuff is silica ceramic and the trick is the surface MUST be clean. A trip to the media blaster and the steel was virgin. Wiped down the whole thing with rubbing alcohol like I was using prep-sol (one wash / one dry towel) while wearing plastic gloves and followed the instructions to the letter. Curing cycle is 10 minutes at idle and 20 cool-down followed by 20 minutes idle and 20 cool-down and 30 minute ride. We used platinum (5 colors to choose from) for the exhaust and black BBQ paint for the heat shield, a reverse of the original look.
