I rambled on in the Motorcycle section about my trips from my house in Deposit to my new place in Hyde Park on motorcycles. Two of my smallest creatures were still in the garage back there waiting to be transported. On the right in the picture below is my 150cc Bashan from GS Motorworks. While it is capable of doing a long ride of one hundred plus miles I didn't want to spend a day doing it. I had bought a Dodge minivan for just this purpose and the scooter slid right in. It now rejoins its partners in my garage and will be pressed into service as soon as the snow from last night melts. It will be the perfect grocery getter in this place. It has a nice trunk under the seat for small purchases and will zip around the local traffic like a dog through a herd of cows. It is near 9,700 miles on the odometer and should finally hit 10,000 miles this summer. I never thought it would take nine years to reach that but having a herd of other bikes to ride sucked road time from it. Welcome home little scooter.

My house is in the sticks but I'm only ten minutes from downtown Poughkeepsie, the home of Vassar College. It will see its share of traffic when I venture down Rt. 9 in view of the Hudson River. I am so proud of this little scooter I can't tell you. Back in Deposit I used it to commute 18 miles one way over several steep hills (altitude 1800 ft.) for a couple of years. It never struggled up those hills at all and even under the stress gave me around 55 mpg. For a crate scooter from 2008 it has justified my contention that all you need is a good head on your shoulders to keep a Cheap Chinese Scooter running. I will hit 10,000 miles this Summer and it still has plenty left.
