Check all the leads ,, something or a pair of wires may have rubbed thru on a bolt or frame member or a pos and a ground are touching

How are you checking the system? I always start with connecting the black (negative) of my tester (it can be a light, or a meter; a light is great and easy for first stage testing) to the negative battery terminal. Next, of course touch the positive bat. term. . If ok, then follow the hot wire thru the system. Older models use the frame(or engine cases) as ground instead of a separate wire. Check if the negative bat. term. has voltage (or the light goes on) between it and the eng. case or frame. If so, the ground connection between the bat and the rest of the machine is bad.

I'd like to thank all of you for your input. Its a TaoTao 501 48 v 500 w electric scooter. I know there's a short, I have no lights,no turn signals, dash lights, nothing. I'm thinking Its a grounding problem. The negative coming off the battery and into the controller is hot. I have to hots going into my controller. When testing my blinkers, the bulb socket inside is hot and the outside of the socket is hot to. I'm really confused. I don't know to much about these's electric scooters, and I can't afford to put it in a shop,so hopefully with the members help I'll try to fix this scooter sidewalkfinisher, jct842, cyborg, jackrides sidewalkfinisher, jct842, cyborg, jackrides

The only thing I can suggest is get the bodywork off the machine and start chasing down wires and terminations

remove the batteries and reinstall you must of put one in backwards or the controller went bad. I have a serengeti panther, it's a 500 watt scooter to where I removed the factory controller and replaced it with a 800 watt variable voltage 48/60 and it has the wiring for a 3 speed throttle. so I installed a 3 speed throttle on it too. at 48v its speed is 20 low 26 mid and 32 mph high and at 60 volts on high it almost reaches 40mph but does reach 60kph. considering most states kept the 20mph max speed limit. its pretty good speed for only a 500 watt motor. I couldn't afford lithium batteries so it has 4 sla batteries in it.
