The diffeerence with all six 17's and the combo 17/11 is higher RPM's the 17/11 combo lets your engine rev higher and thus higher speed. Your fuel economy will go down proportionaly as well. You will get better mileage with all 17's, because the RPM's are lower.

Ok,I got my tach today,I am running 17g/12g rollers. On level groung@ 40 mph scooter speedo I am running 5120 rpm's. @ 54 mph max speed it is running 7260 rpm's. Is that a sweet spot? Or can I afford to run 11's with the 17's ?

Or just go with 6 13's straight. I am starting to wonder if the mixing is really that effective so I am installing sliders this week, and going with 6 10g rather than mixing to get a total of 10g equivalent.

One thing I noticed is while changing out the rollars I only have one of those little groove clips instead of 3 that go on the backplate that holds the rollars. So I orderd a new variator. It seems to want to clank at low rpm's.

those clips are 100% necessary! Of course not having them is a good reason to give to the Mrs. to need a new variator, but you can just buy a set of the clips.

Yeah, the only problem with that happened to me... I destroyed my factory 115mm variator (pictured above) and replaced with a cheapo 108mm one. Didn't have the money for a new performance one.

When taking off my old variator I discoverd I must have cross threaded the nut.I went to ace and purchased a new 12mm 125 die and nut.Now there is too much slop and the nut wont stay tight. What would be the next step down I need to re thread? It seems that with my new belt it dosnt want to squish up when I tighten the variator nut.Geesh just my luck.

kczukiman, Nice Work!! Glad you were able to correct the threads on the shaft. That would of been a disaster if you would not have been able to re-thread it. But the nut should have been destroyed since its aliumium and the shaft is harden steel. Anyway glad you got it all fixed up. Ride Safe, Alleyoop
