I bought a brand new Wolf Islander 49cc scooter for my wife and it currently has 100 miles on it. It has been difficult to start since we got it and I found that the battery it originally had was undersized, which makes me wonder what else could be wrong with it from the get go. Now, when I get it started, I have to keep twisting the throttle to keep it running. With the research I’ve done, I’m assuming that the valves need to be adjusted but the valve cover isn’t easy to get to (2 of the screws are behind the frame). Does anyone have experience with Wolf Islander 49cc? Does the engine have to be dropped to gain access to the valve box? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like it's running lean. Adjust the carb first before doing anything on valves. Take a paper clip and clip the air intake hose shut and see if it starts, if it starts with the intake hose clipped then you are running lean. Also check the intake manifold for a pinched gasket, this will cause a lean condition. Get in touch with their Tech support if your stumped: techsupport@wolfbrandscooters.com (727) 954-3957
