My 2005 tank 50cc moped has had electrical problems since i got it a few years ago. I've been trying to figure out what it is. There is a switch installed by the previous owner (might be a battery cutoff?) The turn signals stay solid when it is on and the headlight is very bright. when its off everything is dim and the turn signals blink normal. I took off the front cover and found that the resistors are disconnected but when i plug it in the bike will die. There is also a loose black wire coming off of a black box i cannot find where it goes. Thanks.

I would verify that the previous owner did not change/update the stator. It is possible that there are a different number of stator coils than were on the original machine. If this is true, then it could explain extra wires and adaptions made for the CDI. It could develop too much current for charging the battery too. It's worth the time to pull of the rotor/flywheel and see what you find. gerre
