I have been trying every wich way but loose to get my cvt cover back on.I noticed that there is a shaft beside the variator that has to fit into a small hole in the cover.Would that be my problem.it seems to teeter in the center? Thanks Dave

Its probably the kicker shaft that's stopping the cover from going on all the way but its caused by the part you are referring to. When they are meshed together right there's some tension from the spring. So when you go to slide the cover back on they kinda spring/move out of place a bit and it holds the kicker shaft from seating all the way back in. It can get irritating but you can eventually get it on. Once I got a AGM battery in my scoot I took the kicker off and threw it in the trash. No more aggravation.

lol thats kinda what I did.I left the starter shaft bushing off as well as that thin washer and she slid right on. I am still waiting on my correct clutch springs to come in so I'll just ride it that way ffor now. Thanks for the reply Zug.

lol Jrr, same way I was getting mine on but you almost need 3 hands to do it.
Now that the bushing and washers are gone the rattle is probably going to drive ya nuts. I cant stand any kind of rattle or squeak. Plus when you go to kickstart it the gears might not be meshed up or they might jam together if your gears have that solid spot on the bottom.

I get mine on this way, on ehand on the cover and the other on the kickstarter while it is just far enough onto the shaft so that I can as Dr.jr said " gently move the shaft with the pedal and the thing just falls on there!"
