I have the exact same scooter. When that happened to me, it was a loose CDI wire. Now, it may not be the same issue, but double check the CDI connections. Not the white plug, but the actual wires going into the white plugs. My decided to die while I was messing with the idle screw, so it threw me off. Don't let the gas situation jade into not looking elsewhere.
Also, my fuel filter was installed backwards, from the factory. Just an FYI.

Thanks for all the help. I finished my philosophy class (which was intense, even for me) and I'm in a film class now-- much less intense! I got an A in the philosophy class, though. My best friend just got engaged to a biker who is itching to help me out and teach me how to work on my scooter, so I'm set. I'm off to remove ALL of the plastics and start going over her thoroughly. I will learn a lot in the process, so I'm not going to be in a hurry, as much as I really want to get out and ride some more!

Denise did you check for gas flow as decribed by ally. if you pull the fuel from the carb and crank the engine, and no gas flows , blow into the gas line hard. this push the yuk back into the tank. then with the line off the carb try to crank and check for gas flow. if you get gas out of the line save some like a 1/4 cup. take a cap and put gas in it, pull the vac line at the tee so the other end is still in the manafold, put the gas line back in the carb. then with the vac line off the tee crank the scoot and suck the gas with the vac line out of the cap (if it is a fuel problem the scoot should run work the throttle GET THE VAC LINE BACK ON THE TEE FAST). you may need to do this a few times. once it catches you should be good

My fuel flow is fine. I really just need to take the plastics off, I think, and check everything. I didn't do a really good PDI, like I should have. I need to learn the bike, not just ride it. I'll give you all updates this weekend. People all around me keep having emergencies! On top of that, my house got volunteered for a birthday party and my best friend just got engaged. Add the horrible weather and I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment.

I hope your running the trick with the vac line and the cap of gas will bypass your pilot jet, if the problem lays in the carb your engine will kinda run crappy for a very short time 10 secs. sometimes just seeing it do something other than crank off the starter , puts light at the end of the tunnel

Maybe he, she, they sugared your tank. You fuel will flow fine, but the jets would be jacked.

sounds to me like the carb jets might be clogged with something . drain the bowl and see if it flows when trying to start. If not carb is clogged
