All that lovely snow we got on Monday started melting yesterday when it began to rain. Of course the Flood Watches and Warnings began and my basement has about an inch of water in it. When the stream in my backyard begins to rage the water table rises through the bottom of my cellar. All I can do is start the pump to hold it at a decent level, usually an inch, and wait for things to calm down.
Don't worry, the Lance is fine. It's sitting on its centerstand with the water lapping at the bottom of its tires.

I wish I was on high ground. 10 thousand years ago, or whenever the last Ice Age ended, this was a river bed. Under my lawn is flat, smooth Bluestone rocks. I'm betting there's still water flowing about fifteen or twenty feet underground. Maybe less. When the contractors sunk three foot holes in the ground for my pool deck stanchions they filled with water. The stream is an above ground indicator of all that flow motion around me.
