Hello to all, I have a 2006 tourista with 1700 miles on it. This past week it cut off after about 10 to 15 miles. It will crank but not start. I let it set for an hour or so and it fired right up. Yesterday it did the same thing. Can any help me?

Morning Mike,
Yes we can help but you'll have to give us a little more to go on.
What has / has not been done to the scoot as far as maintenence. Have the valves been adjusted yet? Spark plug checked? What happened when it cut out on you?
This really needs to go to the clinic and I'm sure one of the mods will chime in very shortly and move it.
You may want to post a thread in the new member section to tell us a little about you and your scoot(and pics).
M/C
Oh heck, I almost forgot my manners. WELCOME!

Check all hoses and fittings and connectors for fuel and vacuum, they should all be tight or they'll leak.
Check the fuse next to the battery for intermittent connection, replace it anyway.
Check wire connection to the coil mounted on the right side of the frame, just follow the plug wire back, and check both ends of that.
Check.

Welcome to Scooter Doc, Pastor Michael. Your problem sounds very much like an overheating CDI. You might want to introduce yourself in the new members section as M/C suggested. I will also slide this over to the clinic where our scooter medical staff will have a better look.

I'm not meaning to hijack anyone's thread but I sure wish I knew where I could find a decent reliable performance CDI for these Linhai 260cc motors. One without the 9000 RPM limiter but yet wont break the bank.

Welcome aboard and yes it sounds like the CDI. Here is what you do, get it hot again so it cuts out and won't start. Pull off the spark plug wire and take out the spark and pop it into the boot and lay it against the head or any metal. Crank the motor over and see if you get spark. If there is no spark, MOST LIKELY it is the CDI. If there is spark, MOST LIKELY it is a fuel problem. Obviously, if you have a spare plug laying around, you don't have to pull out yours out.

Just get a can of desk spray when the problem happens turn the can upside down and spray the cdi , see if it will start . the can is small enough to keep in your pocket , you maybe able to see the cdi through the plastics
