I saw a thread on here about putting the kickstart mechanism back together so I thought i'd give it a go.Can't seem to get it sorted it seems jammed when you apply pressure to the kickstarter.Any help appreciated

This may help.. note the alignment marks this is where the gear must join/enter the next sprocket.. Start on the left and go to the right... the last sprocket MUST have a tension on it from the spring... Also note the points that need grease Attachments:

On this photo the variator is removed whereas I haven't got anything to remove it with not that i need to. The cog on the far left doesn't seem to sit flush with the back of the case for some reason therefore the middle sprocket seems to lie behind it and not mesh when pushed into place.I have followed the guidelines to the letter inc positioning of the kickstart return spring. Thanks

Your variator nut is not tight enough then... at about a torque of about 35Nm on the nut the gear is pushed up the tapered shaft into the correct position by the variator pulley.
Usually the opposite happens and people tighten the variator nut with an impact wrench and over tighten it which drives the gear so far up the tapered shaft they can never get it off. Basically their engine is junk should they ever need to replace the seal or split the case...

Thanks. I'll try a bit more torque on the variator nut
