Sounds like you should check the Belt out. Might be stretched out and slipping which would cause a squeal and a knock. That would be my first place to start. Also easy fix.

Todd has some good advice. Another area that could be a problem would be inside the clutch which is located at the rear wheel. Let us know what you find with the belt check.

I also had the center stand cushion wheel break in half and caused the stand to contact the engine case and sounded like a rod knocking..off the stand no sound.....I removed the CVT cover and checked the variator....clutch....belt...all was great....after 5000 miles....then rode the scoot and the knock was still there....another scootdawg told me check the cushion wheel and sure enough it was making all the noise...

knocking is when its on the center stand and idleing, more so when i give it throttle, the wheel doesnt move from side to side it's nice and tight, no bearing play either. I'll pull the cover and look at the belt, is there a way to tell if its stretched?

There really should not be much play in the belt at all. Should be fairly tight Held by the clutch spring.

ok if i squeez the belt on the top and bottom i can bring them to within an inch of each other, and when i have it running the belt kinda flaps about. I'm guessing that its either stretched or the wrong belt, as i bought it used and had to do some work on it anyway.

Wow that is a lot of slop. Yes that is most likely causing your knock. Is your belt all the way to the outside of your Clutch pulley? That is the pulley by the tire. Just wondering if the pulley is closing all the way.

it fills the slot, if its running themoves to about an inch from the bell cover on the clutch otherwise when its off its against the wheel, it never moves to contact the bell just moves maybe an inch or so toward it when throttled up.. the variator side opens and closes too.

If the clutch pulley is binding in a partially open position, it would give the appearance of a loose belt. When the engine is off, the clutch pulley should be fully closed and the variator pulley should be fully open.

what does closed look like? when its off the belt is against the wheel and the clutch bell cover is at its furthest distance from the belt.
