No, you take the windshield off and then the top cover over the instrument panel and then you can see the entire back of the instrument panel. It is only one bulb and it lights both sides the Tach and the Speedo. You just pull it out it is held in by just a rubber round piece. Buy 2 sets that way you can change the Fuel guage bulb and the Volt meter bulb with LEDS.

the tach side is fine, so are all the others, its just the red ring on the speedo, the back lighting on speedo works too.. i still havent figured out how to take the windshield off either i found 4 screws but they didnt seem to allow it to come out. thanks again I really appreciate the help.

Remove this screw on each side of the windshield (viewed from the riding position).
