hi folks.i just bought a speedfight 100 cheap as it needed a new piston and barrel.i have a spare engine with a good top end so put it on.i now have good compression but no spark.i've tried different plug, coil, lead, cdi.i dont seem to be getting enough power going to coil as it only reads 0.04v[when pushing start button] with multimeter to green wire at back of coil.the red light flashes all the time key in or not.i got 3 keys with the bike 2 black and 1 red.1 black opens seat, the other turns ignition and the red 1 opens the thing at the back.not sure what its for[started to pull it out but pushed it back in again]now i read that you can reset the key by turning it on with the red key but mine wont turn the ignition.so has anyone any ideas as what i need to do or try.

Check your stator first. This sounds like what happened to me in July . Check the electrical section in the reference area for how to run those tests with the multimeter. You need to run a couple of tests with the wiring coming out of it. A bad stator assy can cause no spark .They do wear out like other components !! will

I think Will has you figured out on the spark problem. Which wire is giving you the .04v?

I think Will has you figured out on the spark problem. Which wire is giving you the .04v? the green wire going to coil.there is a 3pin connector coming from stator and each one is reading 0.19 when pushing starter.

Oh, I see what you're saying. The three wire harness from the stator is for charging the battery and a lot of the lights, it has nothing to do with spark. Also, testing the coil wires is fruitless, the multimeter can't grab the intermittant voltage, I've tried. Here is a spark diagnostic check graciously provided by my pal Will. Please read through the whole thing but do perform at least the tests for the blue and red/black wire from the stator a at the bottom of the PDF. Let us know what you find from this:
Let's get your electricals working and then we'll address the keys and blinking light. Rich
