The weather seemed to take pity on me and gave me an entire day Saturday with a good bit of sunshine, barely 50 degrees, and the day off from ALL work so I spent nearly the entire day stripping the bike down to it's skeleton after warming it up really good and discovering a coolant leak I had. (it seems the mechanic at the shop didn't use a gasket when he took out the thermostat) I not only fixed the leak (no I didn't have a thermostat to put in it... yet) I put the battery on a trickle charger, changed every fluid, checked every hose/vacuum line/fuel line, replaced the fuel filter, and inspected the electrical system while carefully reassembling it with more screws and lock-nut-clips than that old mechanic left for me when he serviced the bike. (I bought extra screws and clips) About the only thing I didn't do was change all the bulbs to LEDs, get all the sticker residue off the plastic body panels when I took off the poorly applied 'JET' stickers, and figure out why the horn suddenly quit working after I did all that I mentioned above. Just so you know, I am an electrician by trade, and during the winter when work has been slowing down with this economy like it is, I maintain home/home office networks and repair computers, so I'm usually pretty through when I check out all the electrical connections. My guess is either the horn switch is bad or the horn itself. I also took a few more pics of the bike and you can take a gander at them here: (Sorry I didn't remember to take any while the bike was dismantled...) www.dropmocks.com/mSbOHAbout the only questions I have are, where can I get a LOW temp thermostat, and is it possible that some magnetos work better than others? (LOL) When started and at low idle, everything seems to be functioning just fine. With the thermostat out and the weather still kind cool, I have not heard the fan kick on yet even after letting it idle for a good 10 minutes or so, but I have not seemed to have the lack of electrical power that so many have been complaining about. I still want to change all the lamps to LEDs for longevity and such but I was just wondering. Also the alarm remote I have are built right on the key (making it very bulky) but it does no seem to operate the alarm. It is almost as if it were the wrong remote. Is there a way to re-train the alarm to recognize the remote? I tried countless possibilities but all I get is 3 chirps shortly after the bike is turned off.

Sorry to kick start my old thread again and I hope I don't tick anybody off here with my good fortune but I went back to the same dealer and bought the last Linhai 260cc he had that was just like mine. I have been racking up some serious miles (about 2500 so far despite all the rain ) and due to a nice chuck-hole we get every spring here in North-East Ohio, I bottomed out and broke the airbox on my scooter. that was no big deal because I was meaning to install a pod filter anyways, BUT I had also broke a belt in the back tire and after a while it got very out of round. At first it was just a little vibration but after a while it got to the point that it would have shook the bike apart if I took it above 25MPH. So I got online and started pricing new tires, rims, and other various parts that I knew would need attention if I continued to enjoy as many miles as I have been on this cheaply made bike from china. (don't get me wrong, I love it, but it was built cheaply) What I found was that this was going to cost a good bit to maintain this bike if I continued to get this much use out of it, so I started thinking... That dealership had a bike that they sold to someone but they couldn't handle it so they brought it back but never gave then the title to it. So this bike was sitting there for over a year looking mostly new if it weren't for the dust that was collecting on it. I asked the dealership's owner how much he wanted for it without title and waited until he came up with a figure. When all was said and done I wound up getting that bike that was identical to mine except it was the color that I initially wanted, for half the price I paid for my scooter!!! So now I had a duplicate to literally every part on my bike!!! Over the past few weeks I have had my bike apart a few times to do various maintenance and fix things here and there but I have also exchanged quite a few parts so this is what my bike now looks like! www.dropmocks.com/mWJ9NIn all I sunk less than $1800 into it and still have tons of parts for future needs!!!

Hi all. First let me clarify a few things and this is all meant in a friendly manner.Unless your bike says Linhai on it, it is not a linhai engine it is a linhai style engine. I own 3 scoots a jonway 250t a rokeata 150 and a linhai Aeolous 300, and the difference in quality between the Linhai and the other two are light years apart. I have replaced everything on the jonway and roketa twice, and i have never fixed anything on my linhai 300 I put about a thousand miles a month on it. My other scoots are always having something going wrong with them the metals the plastics are such poorer quality than the linhai, but I still love them just can't depend on them. The linhai is well with the $2700 i paid for it. JIMM
