Hello, i have a gy6 velocity 150 scooter. i bought it two years ago and it ran great then i lost the key so it wasnt used for some time. when i went to use it we couldnt get it to start, found out by testing the air filter it wasnt getting gas and we played around with it and eventually cleaned the carb. now i am not good with the names of the parts but recently we made it gravity fed because we thought the petcock was bad but we tested it and it wasnt.
so now: i reattached the fuel lines to a fuel flter then the peakcock, then the fuel line to the carb.
Attached fuel vapor line to canister
then the vaccum line has two Ts it starts in the carb then it breaks off to other stuff (we didnt unplug) one goes to the petcock, the other to the canister.
the canister is missing a cord i believe. because i have a thick gage air line (i believe) that has an elbow attached to it. i dont know where it goes. any suggestions, ill post pics in the A.M. its turning over but wont crank up when playing the vacuum lines it sounded like it would crank over once but didnt. it has fuel and i dont know if this matters but when i put the key in and turn it to the on position the lights and gauges no longer work (possible fuse, but its automatic stuff) but i can manuelly turn the blinkers on and the breaks work. please i need help, i just blew a head in my ninja500 so this is my only vehical. thanks everyone

Welcome Michael, 1. Make sure the KILL SWITCH is on the RUN POSITION otherwise it will not send Voltage to the SPARK PLUG. 2. For the Lights Check the Fuse on the POSITIVE RED WIRE attached to the Battery. For the Hoses go to this thread and take a look at the picture and see if that helps you out with the hoses and canister. The canister takes a VENT hose from the Gas Tank that is what the Cansiter is for to trap the fumes. It also requires a Vacuum line coming from the "T". www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intake&action=display&thread=842Now another Vacuum line should go to the PETCOCK or Fuel Pump(if the tank is below the carb) then on most 150 carbs they have a decelerator diaphgram and that also needs Vacuum. Here you can see my hoses, I do not have any emission stuff on mine so all I have is 1 vacuum line going to the decelerator on the carb and the other to my Fuel Pump. Another large hose is from the VALVE COVER VENT and that is just tied up on my frame and must not be blocked. Alleyoop LEFT SIDE OF CARB: Turn the Fuel Ratio Mixture screw Clockwise until it stops then turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 2 1/2 turns that should be enough for it to start if it is getting gas down the intake. RIGHT SIDE OF CARB:

Mike, I was having the same problems earlier this week and ditched the canister as the guys are saying, and I am having ZERO problems. The only issue I had after the removal was there was air in the vacuum line and was not pulling fuel through the petcock, once I got the fuel to flow though that line I was golden!!

Well Mike I'd say these guys have it about covered and there's not much for me to do but say to the forum. You know, Alley looks just like that little guy in his signature. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's not from this planet. Well neither is gti come to think of it. Some pics would be great and if you keep having trouble don't hesitate to ask further questions. Rich

I am Phil and I recently picked up a GY6 Velocity 150 moped and have been puzelled as to what pipe runs where for fuel into the carb. The problem was I could not get any fuel and I checked the Filter, and vacume hoses, now I did unhook the hoses from the carb and took the carb out and checked it and the thing looks new, like it never seen fuel. Yet the guy I got it from stated it ran and then he parked it and an hour later it would not run again. All the electronics seem to be working great though the battery will not hold a charge for more then three days. My question is which port on the carb does the fuel line come in at? I fear I might have run my fuel line to the carb drain cause the carb spills fuel when I crank engine over. Please help if and where you can.

Look at the picture of the carb above the one that says AIR/FUEL MIXTURE ADUSTMENT screw the FUEL INLET Connector on the carb is straight across to the right of the AIR/FUEL MIXTURE SCREW. You cannot see it because the Carb Drain Hose is blocking it. Alleyoop

Thanks, I decided to solder the nipple that was on the bottom of my carb/float. I know it is to be a drain but they must have messed that one up cause there was no drain screw and the former owner had the fuel line hooked to that drain line. In all I figured out why the fuel was being forced out the carb vent pipe. Now I got a new issue. I am getting gas, checked the plug and it is gently wet with gas, and yet I am not getting spark at all. I do know the stator is working cause when I crank the engine the lights pulsate gently. So the stator works, and I got fuel, just need that all important spark! can you suggest anything for help?

1. Is your killswitch on the run position would be the first thing to check? 2. Is there a GROUND wire from the frame to the MOTOR, best place to attach the ground wire from the frame to the motor is ON ONE of the bolts on the VALVE COVER. 3. Check the wire going to the COIL usually 2 wires. Alleyoop P.S Is your side stand up, some scoots have killswitch on the sidestand and IF DOWN will not allow the CDI to release the voltage to the COIL.

The kill switch was in the Run setting and yes I had the sidestand down, As for a ground wire I can't find one from frame to engine anywhere. Not sure about power coming from coil to plug but I already ordered a new CDI and coil off ebay.

The SIDE STAND SHOUD BE UP, put the scoot on the CENTER STAND. Some scoots have a killswitch on the sidetand and when DOWN IT WILL NOT FIRE THE PLUG.
Get a nice piece of thick wire and ATTACH one end to a BOLT on the VALVE COVER and find a nice bolt on the frame and attach the other end to the FRAME for a good frame to motor ground. Alleyoop

Well I got spark, and she purrs nicely! Even has some zip to.her and a bit of impressive speed to. I am shocked that she has such life and rides so smoothly to. Thanks guys for the much needed help. She is about to have some serious miles put on her and I even replaced the plug, cdi, coil, and drive belt to.make shure she would be ready to go, even gave her a fresh battery and fresh fuel filter and oil to. I don't play with not doing things ahead of time. Preventative maimtenance is key with these scooters from what I have learned and noticed. Anyways I will add pics when I can. Thanks again for the help.

Ok, so I found out my odometer says 600km, so I am taking a guess and going to say my scooter hasn't even really been broke in. It would explain the clean carb that is original, and the fresh new looking spark plug. If she is really as low milage as I think she is I might have found a cherry for a scooter!! I may need some advice about a Honda Helix 250 I am getting from a friend, but I will let you know.

Ok so i picked up a Titan MC-D300cc Touring moped from a friend for about $150.00 The moped will start and idle beautifully but.....when i throttle up it will go about halfway and then begin to bog down and if i keep increasing the throttle it dies out completely. If i go halfway and then let off it will return to a smooth steady idle again. It acts like the air filter is plugged but i removed that and tried it without and still get the same results. Can one of you more advanced guys give me some pointers?

It's better to start a new thread for each scooter and problem to avoid confusion. The last post sounds like you are running out of fuel at the carb. Fuel filter? Gas pump?
